November 1, 2023 - 6:30pm What is identified as “The Orthodox Church” today is the original Christian Church established by Jesus Christ, handed down to His Apostles, and described in the New Testament. It was one Church until a split separated Orthodox East from Latin West in the eleventh century but the Orthodox Faith and practice has continued unaltered for two thousand years.

Carson City Rotarians to hear need for Children’s Advocacy Center from sheriff and lieutenant

Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City will learn about the need for a community-based Children's Advocacy Center in Carson City. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong and Lieutenant Craig Lowe will lead the presentation which will also cover how interested persons can get involved.
The meeting takes place Tuesday, Oct. 31 at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 West King Street, Carson City. The public is invited to attend.
Multi-jurisdiction 'Operation Bear Trap' results in arrest of South Lake Tahoe gang member

A multi-year investigation, "Operation Bear Trap" resulted in the arrest Monday of a third member of a gang operating in South Lake Tahoe and the 76th arrest since the investigation began.

A 36-year-old man was arrested Saturday for multiple alleged felony drug offenses including selling a controlled substance in the presence of a child, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
