Carson City 8th graders host Bake Sale at Benson’s Feed Saturday to raise money for annual D.C. trip

December 10, 2022 - 9:00am Every year, Carson City School District's 8th Graders are invited to attend a trip to Washington DC during Spring Break.
During the chaperoned trip, students will learn about U.S. history and how it influences society today.
Carson City emergency crews called to single vehicle crash into fence off North Carson

Carson City firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded at around 5:50 Thursday evening to a single vehicle crash on North Carson Street.
Carson City health officials: 225 cases of respiratory virus in quad county area since October

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting 49 respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases from November 27 through December 3 in Carson City, Douglas, and Lyon Counties, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of October to 225. The number of cases that have been reported to CCHHS is about seven (7) percent higher this year compared to the same timeframe last year.

AAA has listed Western Nevada College's Jack C. Davis Observatory among its nine best Western destinations for stargazing and astronomy in its November and December 2022 magazine.
Weekend storm to bring a few inches of snow to Carson City region, 2 to 5 feet in Sierra

A winter storm this weekend is expected to bring multiple feet of snow to the Sierra and rain with potential for a few inches of snow down to the Carson City area and lower valley floors, according to the National Weather Service.
Drift smoke possible due to pile burning at Lake Tahoe's east shore

Conditions and weather permitting, U.S. Forest Service firefighters will be burning piles beginning today, Thursday, on the East Shore to remove excess vegetation (fuels) that can feed wildfires. Smoke will be present and may affect the following areas through this weekend: Hwy 50 on the East Shore, Glenbrook, Spooner Summit and Carson City.
Le Visage Skincare Spa inside Carson Mall hosting Saturday open house

December 10, 2022 (All day) Le Visage Skincare Spa is celebrating its opening with a pre-opening open house. It's happening this Saturday and Sunday, December 10th and 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Drop in for refreshments and a tour. The spa is also offering $25 mini facials to walk-in customers during the open house.
Undefeated Carson Middle School Boys Basketball team to play final season game Thursday, Championship Saturday

The Carson Middle School Basketball team has played hard all season long, and have remained undefeated.
Their final game of the season will be held this afternoon at 3 p.m. at Carson Middle School where they will go head to head with Eagle Valley Middle School.
Carson City's Homestead Holiday braces for weekend storm, potential for some events to cancel

This weekend, the annual Homestead Holidays at Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City is still slated to take place, but Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will be keeping an eye on the weather in case it becomes severe.
Cold Moon of December

December 7, 2022 - 8:30pm Last night was the full moon of December and one of its names is "The Cold Moon." Last night Mars was in opposition and earlier in the evening the moon eclipsed Mars for a period of time. The photos of the moon and Mars were taken after it reappeared in the sky.
