Emergency alert: Douglas County Sheriff’s Office advises motorists to avoid travel

An emergency alert went out Saturday evening via cell phone and television advising motorists not to travel in Douglas County.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to stay off of the roads in unnecessary and non-emergency situations due to the snow storm.

With an atmospheric river winter storm hitting northern Nevada, the Nevada Department of Transportation is urging motorists to avoid driving. The snow and slush that has fallen on roadways throughout the day is leading to reduced traction on all highways and streets.
Wife arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs to husband at prison in Carson City

On Saturday, Dec. 31 at around 7:30 a.m. the General Investigators Office of Nevada Department of Corrections, the Special Enforcement Team of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit conducted a joint operation to investigate Furnishing a Controlled Substance to a State Prisoner.
Volunteers needed for Night Off the Streets Carson City Homeless Center

A record number of people are seeking shelter in the Night Off the Streets, Inc. (NOTS) Homeless Center in Carson City and additional volunteers are needed to support night-time shifts in the warming center.

BAC chocolatier to speak at Democratic luncheon

January 2, 2023 - 1:00pm The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be artisan chocolatier Laura Fink, proprietor of Moondance Chocolates. Laura hand crafts her exquisite creations in the rectory kitchen behind the Brewery Arts Center performance hall. They are on display and sold on the BAC's ground floor. A portion of all proceeds go to support the BAC's many community programs.
