Senator Square: Carson High School speech and debate returns to competition

Carson High Speech and Debate has slowly been returning to a normal competition routine. The team this year has roughly 20 members, and many have seen success this season. Carson High students have advanced to final rounds in dramatic, humorous, and duo interpretation, where students cut a 10-minute script and perform their piece.

Douglas County to consider abolishing Elected Office of the Constable; Paul Gilbert announces retirement

Current Constable Paul Gilbert has held the elected office for ten, four-year terms and announced he would not seek re-election.
Mental Health Services have fallen behind as the need for help increases in Carson City and beyond during pandemic

While there have been the usual suspects of a pandemic, including disease transmission, hospitalizations, government shut downs, there has been another less-talked about symptom of the pandemic: mental health issues.
Carson City man arrested on $75,000 warrant for sex crime involving a minor

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested at the sheriff’s office on a $75,000 warrant for the use of a minor as a subject in a sexual portrayal, according to a sheriff's office booking report.
Carson City Public Works Spring Flushing program begins late Feb. through early March

Beginning Feb. 28 and continuing through March 31, 2022 the Carson City Water Division will be starting up and testing wells in anticipation of increased water demand.
Responders investigating structure fire report at Senator Apartments

Just before noon on Saturday a possible structure fire was reported at the Senator Apartments on S. Roop St.
First responders are on scene investigating. Responders on scene have reported the smell of smoke but no flames are visible.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Suspect for Gang-Related Graffiti

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Monday January 31st to reports of graffiti in various areas of Gardnerville, including three stop signs at the intersection of Manhattan Way and Tillman Lane, a sign at Dresslerville Road and Tillman Lane, and both sides of Lutheran Bridge.
Carson High Announces 2022 Winterfest King and Queen
