Republican former Sen. Dean Heller officially launched a bid for governor on Monday, attempting to re-enter the political sphere he inhabited for decades before he was defeated in a 2018 re-election bid that found him struggling to navigate a fraught relationship with then-President Donald Trump.

A 20-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor second DUI, driving without a valid license, no proof of insurance and violation of bail conditions.

Travelers in both directions between Lake Tahoe and Sacramento will be happy with the news that crews should have US50 over Echo Summit to Kyburz open to the general public by Tuesday. The portion between Kyburz and Pollock Pines previously opened.

The Lyon Board of Commissioners approved, on September 16, 2021, the County Managers' request to draft a Request for Proposals for Solid Waste Disposal (Garbage pick up and disposal). County Manager Jeff Page requested authorization to move forward with drafting an RFP.

I’m a bit perplexed. I used to advise weaning trees off their summer water routine towards the end of August, so that they could be acclimated and hardened off before the September freezes. Now, it’s the end of September and I’m just beginning to think about getting plants, particularly trees, ready for the cold.
