Carson City arrests: Dayton man jailed for warrants alleging sexual assault involving child

A 56-year-old Dayton man was arrested Wednesday for two warrants, one alleging sexual assault on a child under the age of 14, and the other alleging battery with intent to commit sexual assault, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

2nd annual Raise the Roof to End Poverty

The 2nd annual Raise the Roof to Ease Poverty is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9. Beginning at sunrise, KBUL on-air personality and Catholic Charities supporter, JJ Christy will perch himself atop the Catholic Charities building located on Valley Road and East Fourth Street braving the elements until the organization raises $150,000. In addition, Catholic Charities will host an outdoor BBQ, tours of its programs and invites the community to cheer for JJ.

Western Nevada College program prepares students with disabilities for life success

In the weeks leading up to the start of fall semester at Western Nevada College, students were already learning about future employment possibilities from some of Northern Nevada’s most recognized and important employers.

Tesla, CGI and Starbucks were providing either virtual or in-person tours for students in WNC’s Disability and Support Services’ three-week Summer CREST program. CREST is a grant-funded educational program paid for with funds from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Redwood Materials plans to expand local recycling facility, creating largest building in Carson City

Carson City’s Redwood Materials, Inc. has been making headlines, from its expansion into the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center to create a massive recycling plant, to partnering with Ford Motor Co. which invested $50 million into the company to create a closed loop for battery recycling.

They may make a new record in the capital city: one for the largest building constructed.
