Structure fire reported at Quik Stop on Roop Street Friday evening
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 02/12/2021 - 6:42pmUPDATE 6:50 p.m.: First responders on scene stated that there is no flame or smoke, but there is "a lot of heat" coming from the ice cream freezer's electrical panel.
Work had been done recently to the electrical panel.
Other responders were released from the scene and there does not appear to by any immediate danger.

A structure fire was reported at the Quik Stop on North Roop Street at 6:40 p.m. Friday night.
First responders are enroute from Carson City as well as Truckee Meadows Fire.

NDOT to launch $35M, 2-year project to repave State Route 28/431 near Incline Village

House fire reported in North Carson on W. Sutro Terrace

A house fire in the 4800 block of W. Sutro Terrace was reported just after 10:45 a.m. on Friday.
The resident is evacuating. The fire began near the area of the chimney, according to dispatch.

DETR: Extended benefit continued claims rise; Pandemic Unemployment Assistance continued claims nearly 120k
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 02/12/2021 - 9:30amFor the week ending February 6, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 9,953, up 132 claims, or 1.3 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 9,821 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).
Through the week ending February 6, there have been a total of 844,091 initial claims filed since the week ending March 14, 2020.
Dogs reunited with owner after Carson City crash - One missing 8 days, other 85 days

On November 16, 2020, Jon Berg was driving on I-580 from Reno to the Carson Valley when he was involved in a rollover crash. Inside the car were Berg’s two five-year-old dachshunds Katie and Brandie. Both were spooked and they took off and ended up separated. One was chased into Voltaire Canyon and the other up Spooner Summit.
