DETR: Initial Claims Tick up in the Second Week of October, Continued Claims Continue to Fall
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 10/09/2020 - 12:11pmFinalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,941 for the week ending October 3, up 416 claims, or 5.5 percent, compared to last week’s total of 7,525 claims.

High Volume of Positive Covid-19 reported at assisted living facility in Yerington

It is reported that 34 out of 53 tests results were positive.

Quad-County COVID-19 Update: Twenty-Three New Cases and Five Recoveries

This brings the total number of cases to 1,416, with 1,273 recoveries and 17 deaths, 126 cases remain active.
White Cane Days, grand opening, pool tournament and more highlight weekend activities around Carson City

Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Local business Wizard of Pawz grooming salon hosts a socially-distanced grand opening on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pool tournament at Bulldog Billiards at 6 p.m. Combined with live music and karaoke, the state capitol will be packed with excitement!
