Carson City, Quad area COVID-19 briefing: 17 new positive cases, 18 recoveries Saturday

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020 that there are 17 new cases and 18 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad county region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,470, with 1,295 recoveries and 17 deaths, 158 cases remain active.

Carson City Planning Manager to speak at weekly Rotary meeting

Carson City Planning Manager Hope Sullivan will be the guest speaker at this week’s Rotary Club of Carson City’s meeting. The lunchtime meeting takes place Tuesday, Oct. 13 and guests are welcome. Ms. Sullivan will give an overview of land development in the area, with a focus on residential.

Hello fellow anglers, Fall is definitely here. Renee and I took a trip through Alpine County last week to enjoy the fall colors. Many trees have turned, while others are just starting to get their true colors.

To get a good look at the viewing, venture up through Highway 88 from Woodfords to Caples Lake. Another good area of fall color viewing is from Woodfords on Highway 89 up to Kinney reservoir on Highway 4 .

Red Flag Warning: Critical fire weather warning for Lake Tahoe Basin today, no open flames allowed

The National Weather Service (NOAA) has issued a Red Flag Warning for critical fire weather conditions from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. PDT on Saturday, October 10, 2020 for the greater Lake Tahoe area.

Largest single day COVID-19 spike reported in the Quad-County area with 37 new cases

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting thirty-seven new cases and four additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,453, with 1,277 recoveries and 17 deaths, 159 cases remain active.

Carson City Historical Society to hold virtual memorial for last founding member of society, Ron Machado

The Carson City Historical Society will be hosting a Zoom Memorial for Ron Machado on Saturday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m.

Ron passed away on May 27, 2020.

Ron was the last founding member of the Nevada Landmarks Society, which eventually became the Carson City Historical Society.
