String of fraudulent check-cashing throughout region comes to an end in Carson City with arrest of New Jersey man

A 42-year-old New Jersey man was arrested in the 3400 block of Market Street for five felonies including attempting to obtain money under false pretenses, forgery by uttering a forged instrument, and obtaining and using the person ID of another for an unlawful purpose.

UPDATE: Washoe Health testing results for Huffaker students come back negative

UPDATE MONDAY: The Washoe County Health District (WCHD) conducted COVID-19 testing Friday and all tests came back negative including all students at Huffaker Elementary School who were tested. The negative result includes the family member (a Huffaker student) of the resident who tested presumptive positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

Free Kid’s Inline Hockey Clinics begin Monday at Marv Teixeira Pavilion

The Sierra Inline Hockey League will be hosting three free inline hockey clinics for active kids beginning Monday March 9, and the next two Mondays on the 16 and 23.

Session times run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., for ages 6 - 9 years old.

Corona Virus Information from the Carson City School District

Carson City School District wishes to assure all families that they are in daily communication with the local, state and national health authorities on the status of the Corona Virus (COVID-19).

The school district has a Pandemic Response Plan which is supported by the Carson City Health & Human Services Department. The plan includes prevention efforts, surveillance of student and staff illness, communications, continuity of learning and coordination with local services.
