Carson City, Tonopah partner for 10-month ‘Basin to Range’ Art Exchange program

On Aug. 5, Carson City’s Mark Salinas and Tonopah’s Kat Galli launched a 10-month collaborative project as part of the Nevada Art Council’s Basin to Range project, which pairs urban and rural entities to “support long-term structural change in communities across Nevada through strategic planning, community engagement, and artistic design.”

Continuing Education at Western Nevada College presents Clay Club Class

August 26, 2019 - 5:00pm Continuing Education at Western Nevada College will hold a class in clay. This course is designed for returning ceramics students, but is also open to anyone interested in ceramics. This class will teach you a variety of ceramics techniques and will include demonstrations. Techniques covered include wheel throwing, sculptor, and functional and non-functional patterns.
Carson City arrests: Driver suspected of being under influence of pills jailed after crash

A 64-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, gross misdemeanor possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, failure to yield and other charges, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Carson City rifle range to get user fees, wildfire prevention

Last year, shooters at the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range touched off a 200 acre fire and already this year there have been two small fires there.
Carson Comedy Club features hilarious stylings of Rodney Norman this weekend

August 9, 2019 - 7:15pm This Friday and Saturday night will feature the hilarious comedy stylings of veteran performer Rodney Norman at the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget.
Rodney was the winner of the Rhode Island Comedy Festival and was also featured in the Boston Comedy Festival. Rodney is a former Marine with a BS degree in Philosophy. He’s been in the comedy business for 20 years and we are happy to have him on our stage.
Agriculture Department: Nevada hemp industry thriving as harvest begins fourth year

The 2019 hemp growing season is underway, and crop harvest has already begun in southern Nevada. The Nevada Department of Agriculture Hemp program began as research and development under the 2014 Farm Bill and started in 2017 with just 26 growers.

The 16th Annual Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music and Art Festival kicks off Friday at Bliss Mansion, 608 Elizabeth Street from 4 to 6 p.m., and continues that evening at the Governor’s Mansion, directly across Mountain Street. The free event includes live music, art, food, and tours of the Bliss Mansion.
