Children's version of '101 Dalmatians' wags into Carson City's BAC this Friday

Students with the Carson City School District, in partnership with the Wild Horse Children’s Theater, will debut their Summer Theater Camp’s adaptation of Disney’s "101 Dalmatians, Kids." Admission to the play is free of charge; however, donations will be accepted.

Carson City Elks Lodge to hold Saturday Poker Run

Registration starts at 9 a.m., June 22 at the Carson City Elks Lodge 515 N. Nevada Street. Proceeds will benefit the Elk's Veterans' Fund. Vehicles must be 1970 or older.

Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.
Carson City Fire Department called to brush fire at Sierra Vista and Carson River Road

UPDATE 5:47PM: Firefighters on scene are mopping up the brush fire on Sierra Vista Lane. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE 5:25PM: Carson City Fire Department is on scene at a vegetation fire on Sierra Vista Lane. The fire is contained and no structures damaged, according to Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon. The fire is estimated at 2 acres. Mutual aid was provided by East Fork Fire and Truckee Meadows Fire, they are covering the city while firefighters are battling the blaze. The Carson City Sheriff's Office has closed Sierra Vista at Pinion Hills.

UPDATE 4:57PM: Forward progress of the fire has been stopped, according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief on scene.

Stewart Indian School gym begins preservation efforts; Nevada State Prison struggles to open

Think the V&T Roundhouse and Children’s Home, though there were many more historic structures that met the wrecking ball ultimately changing how Carson Street looks today.
Wilson Wins President’s Cup at Silver Oak
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 06/17/2019 - 2:24pmDan Wilson is the President’s Cup champion after shooting a combined three under after the second round June 9 of the Silver Oak Golf Course Sunday Men’s Club in Carson City.
The President’s Cup takes the best scores from each hole over two rounds for gross and net winners. The low net (after handicap is applied) over the field was Ryan Balik at 17 under.
