Western Nevada College offers accelerated plan for pre-nursing students

To meet the rising employment demand for nurses, Western Nevada College now offers a plan to expedite students’ entry into the college’s Nursing program. Through an accelerated model, students can complete nursing prerequisites in just two semesters, in preparation for acceptance into the program.

With one of the biggest winters we have experienced in years and the snowpack level at 200-300 percent of normal, it is expected that the excessive precipitation will likely push the start of the 2017 fire season back a couple months.
Man sentenced to prison for January vehicle pursuit with NHP

A man who was found guilty of leading Nevada Highway Patrol troopers on a January pursuit on I-580 and through Washoe Valley was sentenced Tuesday to 2-5 years in prison, officials said.

Western Nevada College Driver Education Course

June 5, 2017 (All day) Driver Education: Offers thirty hours of new driver education in a classroom setting. Meets requirements to obtain a Nevada driver's license. Uses lectures, interactive CD's, videos and on occasion guest speakers: Auto Insurance, Accident Victims, DMV Examiner, Department of Public Safety, Law Enforcement, and our WNC Auto Instructor to give vehicle and engine component identification.
Class instruction will cover Nevada driving regulations, basic vehicle control, and challenging situations. Open to students ages 15 and above. Please Note: Driver Education class fees are non-refundable.
Western Nevada College Motorcycle Rider Course

May 23, 2017 (All day) Registration for a Basic Rider Course (BRC) - $160, Basic Rider Course II - $85 or the Advanced Rider Course (ARC) $85.
BRC -Learn how to ride a motorcycle in 2 1/2 days & earn your MSF completion card for a Nevada endorsement.
BRC II - This intermediate course has two functions – a license waiver for those who are currently riding or a Skills Waiver to update your skills.
ARC - for students who hold a Class M endorsement & want to hone their skill, understand their risk tolerance, etc.
