Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute offers Organic Farming in the Sierra Workshop on Saturday, November 5, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Western Nevada College, 160 Campus Way in Fallon. Cost is $40 for those registering by October 28 and $45 afterward. The registration fee includes lunch and a copy of the book “July & Winter: Growing Food in the Sierra” by Gary Romano. So much crazy fun awaits: whether it’s the celebration of our ‘new’ downtown, Halloween parties for kids and adults alike, or our State Museum’s 75th Anniversary. Start your day at the Museum, hang around for the downtown ribbon cutting and festivities, then join in the costumed fun as Blinky Man hits the streets. Do the time warp at the Brewery Arts Center: the Rocky Horror Picture Show Party starts at 8:30 p.m. This is going to be one amazing weekend, so let’s get this party started.

Carson High School CTE students create cake to celebrate 75th anniversary of Nevada State Museum
Submitted by editor on Thu, 10/27/2016 - 6:21pmWorking from a photo of the Carson City Mint dated 1866, Carson High School CTE information and media technologies teacher, Sherri Kelley, and her students are designing a 3D replica of the Mint to crown the enormous cake CHS CTE culinary students are baking to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Nevada State Museum, currently housed within the original Mint.
All-ages get their costume groove going at Carson City Library Halloween party

In the first photo we see families line up into the parking lot. In the second photo, from left, Fred Desotell, Kiara Williams, and Makayla Hall, all 16, compete in the costume contest during the party. Desotell won in the teen category for his "trash mummy" costume after wrapping himself up with toliet paper from a trash can in front of the audience.
Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Rides

Ride is free and will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles depending on the loops. The ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace. This is a no drop ride. Please feel free to email Shane at shane@shanetrotter.net if you have any questions about the ride. All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and close toed shoes.
