Through her photographs, Emily Najera presents familiar landmarks in brilliant new light.

The Capital City Arts Initiative’s exhibition, "Nevada Roadsides: Northern Routes", presents work by Najera at the Courthouse Gallery from October 2, 2024 – January 30, 2025. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Wednesday, October 9, 5:00 - 6:30p.m. with the artist’s introduction at 5:30. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City; the gallery is open Monday – Friday, 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.

Using seldom seen photos and extensive research, local historians David & Gayle Woodruff reflect back on the deep and rich history of the Carson Valley, including the important roles played by the Minden Flour Milling Company and its magnificent buildings, the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, Genoa, the California Trail and more in creating one of the most historic areas in Nevada.

The Carson Aquatic Facility will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, for Election Day to limit any overcrowding and overparking on the west side of Mills Park.

As part of American Archives Month, the Nevada State Archives unveiled an exhibit highlighting the Nevada Division of Forestry’s (NDF) essential role in protecting and managing Nevada’s lands. The exhibit opened to the public Oct. 1 and will run through Dec. 31 at the Nevada State Archives in Carson City.

Maggie M’s Beginning Art Classes will provide instruction in drawing, sketching, and painting with watercolors and acrylics 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm every Wednesday.
