Senators set for state tournament
Carson High's Junior Valladares showed resolve in early January when he decided to continue wrestling after sustaining a torn MCL in his right knee. That injury will be completely out of mind Friday morning when the takes the mat in Las Vegas for his first state tournament match, even though the reason might not be appear to be good news. That's because the Carson High senior 171-pounder is now dealing with another injury, a strain to the MCL in his left knee he sustained this past Saturday night during his Northern 4A Regional gold medal match. But while one knee injury wasn't enough to end his season, neither is a second for Valladares, who will wrestle in the NIAA State High School Wrestling Championships – presented by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Farmers Insurance Group, and sponsored by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
