An investigation team from the Coast Guard is continuing their investigation into Tuesday's fire on board the Tahoe Queen, which suffered severe damage while it was docked at the pier at the Zephyr Cove Marina on Lake Tahoe's south shore.

McFadden Plaza will be hopping tonight. Not only is there a Farmers Market late Wednesday afternoons, but Josh and Jenera have returned to the Firkin and Fox to host a weekly jam session. You'll find John and Cherie Shipley jazzing it up at Living the Good Life, and Glen Eagles Restaurant welcomes Terri Campillo and Craig Fletcher to their lounge every Wednesday through Saturday night to entertain you.

UPDATE 7PM: Investigators and vessel inspectors from Coast Guard Sector San Francisco are on the scene of Tuesday's fire on board the 119-foot passenger Lake Tahoe paddle wheel boat, the Tahoe Queen.

"Most of the damage is limited to the boat's pilot house and second deck," Lt. Jake Aulner of the U.S. Coast Guard told South Tahoe Now. "This can be attributed to the great response by the Tahoe Douglas Fire Department."
Aulner and the team from USCG Yerba Buena Island will be at the scene until the cause of the morning blaze is determined.

I'm chomping at the bit for Saturday: the Taste of Downtown is almost here. It is one of my absolute favorite events, and one of the most delicious. A procession from Carson City to Reno and then to Winnemucca began Saturday morning for two fallen Bureau of Land Management firefighters who died Sunday in a vehicle crash.

Memorial services will be held for Bureau of Land Management wild land firefighters Jacob O’Malley and Will Hawkins, who lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident July 10 on Nevada State Route 140.

Honor guard processions were held Wednesday for two U.S. Bureau of Land Management firefighters who died Sunday in a rollover crash. A procession was held for Will Hawkins, 22 of Reno and Jacob M. O’Malley, 27, of Zephyr Cove which began in Reno and went to Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.

It’s going to be a beautiful, sunshiny day in Carson City. After a couple of cool, breezy days, the temperatures are returning to the 90s. If this is a beach day, consider sticking around for the Pints and Paddles Cruise on the MS Dixie in Zephyr Cove. Head downtown for some yummy goodness; today’s Farmers Market runs from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Living the Good Life welcomes Rocky and Judith to the stage. A single-vehicle fatal crash Sunday that took the lives of two Bureau of Land Management firefighters involves one from the Zephyr Cove area at Lake Tahoe and the other from Reno. One other BLM firefighter was injured.

The Fourth of July holiday period is the busiest time of year in the Lake Tahoe Basin. For those visiting during the holiday and attending one of the firework displays over the lake, expect extremely crowded conditions and excess traffic.

A huge shout-out to the Carson City Arts and Culture Coalition: their Focus on Carson Photography Contest has concluded and the winners will be featured on a banner at Telegraph and Curry. The installation goes up at 10:30 a.m. today, and they could use a hand or two. The Wednesday Evening Farmers Market is in full swing and hits Third and Curry at 4 p.m.

Go for broke this Wednesday. Or you could go for Baroque this evening with the Tahoe Symphony at Corpus Christi Church just south of town. Another good bet is karaoke at Crossroads Lounge: it’s in the East Winnie Lane shopping center with San Marcos Grill and Bleu Café. The West Side Cruiser Ride for Bike Month is a sure thing. Meet at the Brewery Art Center, costumes are highly encouraged, and then meander around our beautiful downtown with some other fun people. Living the Good Life wants you to enjoy a music jam; bring your instrument if you want to sit in.

A 43-year-old Zephyr Cove woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine was found in her vehicle following a traffic stop, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

I hope no one accuses Wednesdays in Carson City to be boring: they're shaping up to be a happening little midweek reprieve. A new Farmers Market has sprouted on Third Street; Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz night at Westside Pour House tests your savvy; and a Jazz Jam at Living the Good Life will get you jiving. Sing a song for summer at Crossroads: J and M Productions hosts karaoke tonight.

Western Nevada College graduated its largest class ever Monday. A record 556 students earned a total of 598 degrees and certificates.

In a first, 27 graduates are high school students who participated in WNC’s Jump Start College program. These students are to receive their associate degrees prior to receiving their high school diplomas.

Spring fever is upon many of us, probably worst of all among the school kids. Let the Carson High School bands and theater program show off their stuff one last time before the end of the year; you'll find them at the Community Center at 7 p.m. It's also the time of year that sees more walkers and bicyclists on our sidewalks and roadways. Join Muscle Powered this evening as they participate in the 13th Annual Ride of Silence to remember those who have been hurt or killed while riding on public streets.

Throw a little sunshine my way and I start thinking about Lake Tahoe. Pints and Paddles, the happy hour cruise aboard the M.S. Dixie, has returned to Zephyr Cove. Break up the workday with a stroll along the Wellness Trail: the Wednesday walkers begin at noon if you’d like company. Living the Good Life features great food, fun bartenders, and tonight a Jazz Jam lead by Rocky and Judith. Sassafras lives up to its Eclectic Food Joint reputation again: The Moody Motion Tour featuring Cryptic Wisdom, Whiteout, and Jack The Ripper hits the stage tonight.
