In this class, you'll learn the basics of the Zentangle Method and walk away with two original pieces of art you create yourself Saturday, March 18, from 10 am to 1 pm, at the Adams Hub, 111 W. Proctor Street in beautiful downtown Carson City.

Today at 6 p.m. Desert Sage Trading Co. will be hosting an “Ebony and Ivory” inking class for zen tangles.

In this class we'll practice using white ink on a black tile while learning some new tangles. Then we will combine black on white/white on black using YOUR favorite tangles to create a unique piece of art suitable for framing. A basic familiarity with Zentangle is required. Cost: $30 (includes supplies)

Heading into Thursday, August 29, 2019 and we're ready and due for the upcoming three-day holiday weekend ahead. Looking around the Carson City area for Thursday there's art showings, a Muscle Powered hike, a Partnership Carson City training and lunch and then a vigil to recognize and prevent opioid overdose and more.

Coming up on Thursday, August 22, 2019, we can expect continued sunny skies with a daytime near 90. Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. There's also a discussion about aviation history and trends at the Nevada State Museum, a Carson City GOP information meeting on Block Chain technology, Jazz and Beyond music festival events and more. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by, including the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival, Carson City Library’s End of Summer Learning Challenge, history talks at Mormon Station Park, train rides in Virginia City, a sushi cooking class at Sierra Chef on Sunday and more!

The 16th Annual Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music and Art Festival kicks off Friday at Bliss Mansion, 608 Elizabeth Street from 4 to 6 p.m., and continues that evening at the Governor’s Mansion, directly across Mountain Street. The free event includes live music, art, food, and tours of the Bliss Mansion.

Join us in our new location, 101 Hot Springs Rd in Carson City for a relaxing evening. Zentangle is a fun easy to learn way to create beautiful images by drawing with patterns on tiles and can be transferred to many objects such as glass, metal and furniture. The possibilities are endless.

Want to learn how to make beautiful GemTangles with just your basic Zentangle kit and some colored pencils? It's easy, and as always...no mistakes! You'll learn a couple of techniques to add sparkling, glassy gems to your zentangles. This is both fun, relaxing and addictive! Oh, and you'll learn a few new tangles, too! Class size is limited.
Prerequisites: "Zentangle 101," "Advanced Zentangle," Introduction to Renaissance Tiles OR Grow Your Own Tangle Garden.

Create an apron or tote bag, your choice!

In this class we will learn the more challenging, less structured organic tangles as we build a garden together. Working on toned paper we will bring our garden to life! Just as we would plan which plants to place where in a live garden, we’ll discover which tangles work well together in a garden setting.
Prerequisites: “Zentangle 101,” “Advanced Zentangle,” and “Introduction to Renaissance Tiles.”

Journey back to the time of Leonardo da Vinci and Michealangelo in this class that focuses on using Brown, Black and White colors on tan tiles. In this class you will learn all of the techniques for creating your own unique "Renaissance art". Learn some new tangles, too! But more importantly, give the old tangles a completely new and beautiful look that you will LOVE!
Prerequisites: Zentangle 101 and Advanced Zentangle

Okay... you're addicted right? You need to learn some more tangles! And, take your Zentangles in another direction. In this workshop we will do both!!We will now incorporate traditional tangles with the elements of design and color and create a fabulous greeting card. Not only will you have an opportunity to add some color to your tangles, but you will go home with a template for making a card that frames your Zentangle tiles in a very fun and attractive way! AND, you will learn 6 new tangles!!! Bring your mini Zentangle kit. All other material will be provided.

Expanding on the basic concepts learned in the “Zentangle 101 class, you will learn 6 more tangles. In addition, specific techniques for embellishing your tangles and taking them to the next level. Bring your mini starter kit to class. Prerequisite: Zentangle 101

McKenzie Martin and Breeanne Yeoman noticed the balloons in front of The Studio at Adams Hub during the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk on Saturday. They stopped in to find the exhibit of artists who are enrolled in the Northern Nevada Artrepreneurs Workshop.

Wine walk weekend is almost upon us, along with the infamous Virginia City Outhouse Races. Start your day at Dutch Bros. Coffee and one dollar from every drink will find its way to the Boys and Girls Club. Today is the last day to view the Capital City Arts Initiative exhibit, ‘New Crop 2016’ on the second floor of the Courthouse, so head over there before it’s gone. Check out some new art at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint: Kim VanZyll and Her Zentangle Protégés will be there for an opening reception.

The Charlie B Gallery has partnered with the Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint located at 1500 Old Hot Springs Road, Carson City, Nevada 89706 for this amazing show of Kim VanZyll, CZT and her Zentangle students from Northern Nevada.

Dozens gathered throughout the day Friday to see creativity and innovation in action at the TEDx debut in Carson City, held inside the Brewery Arts Center's Black Box Theater.

Sixteen speakers were selected for the 2016 program, ranging in age from 16 to 70 years old. Of those, eleven speakers are local in Carson City, the Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and Susanville. Five others have local ties to Nevada.

Learn the basics of how to Zentangle, a fun easy to learn, and relaxing way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. This activity can be enjoyed by anyone, including children. It is so much fun to Zentangle.
