The Nevada Day 2013 celebration continues all weekend long

As an "Old Timer" who was born and raised in Carson City, the Nevada Day celebration has always been something special in my life.

Through many years of living in Carson City, I have enjoyed many of the activities associated with the celebration of our state's admission to the Union, way back on October 31, 1864.

Nevada Day Parade gets its own feature song and video

One of the great things to come out of this year's Nevada Day pre-festivities is this song and video. Written, performed and produced by Daylan Rhea with the video by Jim Gustafson of Nevada Multimedia Productions in Carson City, this 2 minute, 13 second ditty is the ultimate Nevada Day Parade song.
You can also check out the song on Soundcloud here.

Nevada celebrates its statehood in annual flight of fancy down Carson Street

Nevada Day kicks off this morning with annual the Nevada Day Parade, with the theme being "100 Years of Aviation" to go along with the Silver State’s admission to the Union in 1864.

Retired Lt. Col. Dick Rutan of the U.S. Air Force serves as Grand Marshal for today's celebration. He was picked to coincide with the theme, which marks a history-making flight of daredevil pilot William Ivy Baldwin west of Carson City, where he soared to 4,675 feet, the highest ever at that time.
