Even with additional dates this year, tickets to the popular holiday train are more than 70 percent purchased. V&T Railroad partners with community college to transform Carson City train station

The project provided an opportunity for 16 students to take their imaginations inside the classroom out to the community – in this case for ideas to transform the current depot into a memorable train station.

Longtime parade volunteer to serve as Nevada Day grand marshal

He walked alongside his pup dressed as a miner, using equipment borrowed from a neighbor. This year, he will lead the procession through downtown Carson City as the grand marshal.

Arts and crafts take over the small hamlet of Genoa this weekend; get a jump on your holiday gift list. All the other corners of Northern Nevada are a playground for the thousands of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts here to enjoy the bike rally. Battle Born Harley on Research Way offers a huge party without ever leaving the valley. Those two events are hardly all that Carson City and our neighboring counties have to offer, however. Carson City, Lyon County firefighters called to dump truck fire near Mound House
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 06/21/2016 - 7:23amCarson City firefighters were called to an off-road area near Mound House and the V&T Railroad bridge Tuesday morning for a dump truck that was on fire.
Units were called to the scene at around 7 a.m. and were able to get water and extinguish the fire located in the truck bed. The dump truck is believed to be stolen.
