Come and join Soroptimist International of the Comstock for our 2nd Annual Train Ride. Boarding will be at the Virginia City Station at 7:00 PM on August 12th. The cost is $45.00 which includes train ride, heavy appetizers, one drink and a door prize ticket. Cocktails, appetizers and dessert start at 5:30 pm and end at 6:45 pm. Additional drink tickets can be purchased for $5.00 each or 3 for $12.00. Sodas will be 2 for $5.00. A Raffle will also be held, with all drawings done before the train leaves the station. It will be a "Full Moon" on the way back to the station.

Do something special for Mom on Mother's Day — treat her to a train ride. A diesel train will be ready for the special ride from Carson City to Virginia City and back on Sunday May 8. Train departs the East Gate Depot at 10 a.m. and returns at 3 p.m. There will be a three-hour stop in Virginia City for fun and lunch. Rates are: Adults - $29, Seniors - $26, Children 3-16 $16. Seven fun-loving people from this area spent last Saturday and Sunday, February 12-13, traveling on the Amtrak passenger train between Reno and Sacramento, Calif.

What would a Thanksgiving holiday be without a steam train ride? The V&T No. 25 will be chugging down the tracks on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 26-27. Come on down and enjoy the ride. Departures both days will be every 40 minutes from 10am to 4pm. Mills Park in Carson City was transformed this weekend into a scene right out of U.S. History. This year's Carson City Rendezvous celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express.

Back on the tracks again, the V&T Railroad kicked off Saturday with a near-sold out day, ample sunshine and a promising full-steam-ahead summer.
"We had a couple of seats left, with quite a few tickets sold for tomorrow," said Candy Duncan, executive director of the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Today went very smoothly and everyone was excited about going on that first ride of the season."
