Lyon County prepares reorganization of Community Development Department

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page announced Thursday that he will be presenting a contract for services with Farr West Engineering to take over the administration and management of the Community Development Department to the Board of Commissioners when it meets June 16.

Carson City Health and Human Services, Carson Tahoe Health and Partnership Carson City will host a public health town hall meeting as part of Public Health Month.

The event aims to provide an opportunity for residents to speak with area leaders, public officials and health officials about issues such as access to healthcare and mental/behavioral health services. The meeting also serves as an opportunity to collect input for the next Community Health Needs Assessment that will be published by CCHHS later this year.

Carson City's RCIL makes case for federal recognition

About 20 people gathered in the Bonanza Room at the Carson City Community Center Thursday night for a town hall meeting hosted by the State Independent Living Committee (SILC), part of the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division.

The meeting's purpose was to elicit public comments about how federal funds for centers for independent living are to be dispersed in the community.

A great panel of women will be at the Dayton Community Center this evening to share their experiences growing up on the Comstock.

The Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a good place to grab a candy cane, some hot cocoa, and tell him what you’d like to find under the tree. Chili on the Comstock is hosting their inaugural Fun with the Runs 5K Saturday at 10 a.m. The 1926 Edwards Motor Car is running, too, and ready for rides at the Nevada Railroad Museum.     Congressman Mark Amodei will hold an agriculture town hall meeting in Carson City on Wednesday, April 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the second floor chambers of the Paul Laxalt State Building at 401 N. Carson Street.

    “Nevada’s agriculture industry is strong, but our hard-working producers and ranchers face unique challenges.
