The Carson City region's Toys for Tots program is ready to serve families in need this holiday season. Hotlines open Dec. 3 and run to Dec. 20, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Enjoy any sunshine Monday as our first significant snow storm of the season is ahead this Thanksgiving holiday week. Activities and happenings on the first day of the work week, Nov. 25, 2019 include a free yoga class offered through Partnership Carson City, a discussion on the Julian Castro campaign hosted by the Carson City Democratic Men's Club, art events and more.

While it isn't quite Christmas-weather yet, I'm assuming at some point it will get cold and we can finally get into the upcoming holiday spirit! When that time comes, there are a ton of great Santa-related events going on in Carson City for you and the little ones to enjoy.

Cookies And Photos With Santa is Back!

Angela and the staff at Gather in Carson City is hosting Cookies With Santa on December 15th from 11am to 2pm.

Postal Annex is excited to be a drop off location for Toys for Tots! Please bring donations to our store between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. through Dec. 20.

While much of the nation is stuck in an arctic freeze, we're stranded with abundant sunshine in Nevada's capital city area with temperatures well above normal for this time of year. Going into the middle of the work week we can expect highs near 70. Local events Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019 include an Eagle Valley Middle School expansion plan community meeting, "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, a Little Valley fire re-seeding gathering, a Toys for Tots volunteer orientation meeting, art showings, classes and more.

The 2019 Toys For Tots season is upon us! We are looking for adults, youth and families to assist with sorting, packing and distributing toys to families in need during the holidays.

Toys for Tots orientation meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the iStorage Facility, 3579 Highway 50 East, Warehouse No. 114 in Carson City.

With the closing of Cafe at Adele’s, Carson City and its community will witness the end of an era.

This decision by owners Chef Charlie and Karen Abowd, comes in the wake of a fire that occurred March 28, and the subsequent inability to negotiate a settlement with the insurance company that would cover reconstruction costs.

A fundraiser is being held for local Carson City man John "JT" Tomaroy, who was involved in a head-on collision while coming home from Las Vegas, and he is now in critical condition at Renown.

A "Show and Shine" fundraiser will be held to raise funds for JT and his family on Sunday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Seeley Loop of Mills Park, located at 1111 East Williams Street.

There will be raffles, food and music and awards for the top five. Registration is $20, and all proceeds will be given to the family.

Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. Rice Street Tattoo, aptly named for its location on Rice Street in Carson City, will officially open Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Carson City, Nev. - The Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) Capitol Police Division partnered with Toys For Tots for the annual toy donation event held at the Capitol.

Toys collected from state-agency sponsored locations and a check from the Nevada State Law Enforcement Officers' Association (NSLEOA) were presented to the Carson City Toys For Tots organization, Santa Claus, and the U.S. Marine Corp on Thursday, December 13.

Deer are more visible in Carson City this time of year, but it's not because Santa Claus is coming to town exactly one week from now.
