The following is from the Sheriff's Office: Due to anticipated cold, wet, windy weather conditions Carson City Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform the community of the cancellation of the Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party which was scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the National Weather Service a slight chance of showers and potential for wind is predicted. Unfavorable weather conditions may cause significant disruption in the planned outdoor activities. The event cannot be relocated indoors as accommodations are limited. Staff of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank those interested in attending and appreciates the community’s support.

The 16th annual Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party, hosted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, will be held Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office administration building, 911 East Musser Street.

Carson City-based Ageless Aviation expands fleet of Stearmans to honor military veterans

Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation's fleet is expanding.

CARSON CITY – Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans with free Dream Flights, is adding a re-stored 1943 Stearman biplane to its fleet, thanks to the fundraising efforts of a local community in Wisconsin.

Carson High School class of '79 Reunion

Carson City Aquatic Center's second annual Underwater Egg Hunt went swimmingly

For the second year in a row, the Carson City Aquatic Center's Underwater Egg Hunt was a hit, and some could say, went off swimmingly.

Three hundred children pre-registered for the event, which was held in timed sessions in both the main pool and the tot pool. Eggs were dispersed at the pool's surface as well as sunken eggs which children dove for.

I just returned from Orange, Virginia from a conference held at Montpelier, former US President James Madison's estate. I was chosen among applicants to attend this conference because I think our community needs to know the cool educational opportunities in which teachers are embarking. After becoming Nevada’s first ‘Bee City,’ new legislation would make beekeeping illegal in any city statewide

In a bizarre twist of events, not two months after Carson City officially became Nevada’s first Bee City USA, a piece of legislation was introduced to the senate that would prohibit beekeeping in any town or city in Nevada, including our very own Bee City.

An official backer of the bill was Carson City’s own Assemblyman Al Kramer, who has now submitted an amendment to have his name taken off the bill as a co-sponsor, and plans to do his best to kill the bill.

Meadowood Mall is hosting the 16th Annual Canstruction from March 6th-10th in Center Court. The structures will be built starting March 6th in Center Court, and mall visitors will be encouraged to cast votes for our award ceremony on March 7th.

The structures will be on display around the center following the award ceremony until they are taken down on March 10th. This unique design and build competition is presented by local sponsors such as Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and will be benefitting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada receives donation of sweatshirts, coats for members
