Airport manager to speak at Carson City Democratic luncheon

He came to the job well prepared in 2018 after careers in air traffic control, publishing, and airport management with the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority. He will touch on the ways in which recently-passed AB406 will strengthen management at the Carson Airport Authority. He will also give a preview of the airport's open house coming up on Saturday, June 29th.

Statewide, jobs increased by 4.0 percent, a gain of 55,200 new jobs added since May of last year.

18-year-old Carson City woman arrested after choking mother during argument regarding cat care
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 05/24/2019 - 9:11amAn 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 1100 block of S. Nevada Street for domestic battery first after an argument over a cat escalated.
According to the police report, a mother and daughter had been arguing over a cat when they became physical.
Deputies made contact with the pair, and spoke to the mother, who had a “very noticeable mark” on her right collar bone and neck area. She said, “she did this to me,” pointing to the 18-year-old daughter, who was walking into the living room.

Blood inventory low going into Memorial weekend; Carson City drives Tuesday and Saturday

All blood types are needed, but local inventory for Blood Type O negative has been hovering at or below a one-day supply, while Vitalant strives to keep a four-day supply of all blood types ready.

Kiwanis Club of Sierra Nevada picks up 23 lbs of 'micro trash' during first Adopt-a-Trail program
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 05/17/2019 - 7:11amOn May 11th the Kiwanis Club of Sierra Nevada completed their first Adopt-A-Trail clean-up at Carson River Park.
The group walked from the parking lot to the fishing pier, focusing on micro trash along the trail and in the parking lot.
They picked up 23 pounds of trash. The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space department would like to thank the Kiwanis Club of Sierra Nevada for participating in the Adopt-A-Trail program and completing their first clean-up!
A big thank you goes out to Grapplers INC for donating new Grapplers to the volunteer program for volunteers to use.
