The weather will be perfect Saturday, June 1 when the magnificent wild horses of Nevada’s Pine Nut Mountains and the dedicated volunteers who oversee them take center stage at a benefit concert presented by multi-talented Nevada singer, songwriter Krista Jenkins.

She has assembled a group of fellow musicians for an evening of intimate, lively entertainment at Valley View Ranch in Gardnerville to raise much-needed funds for non-profit Pine Nut Wild Horse Advocates (PNWHA).

As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Activities and events to round out this third Thursday of the month include a meet and greet of Carson City Library candidates at Adams Hub for Innovation, a day hike, a bicycle cruise on the west side of the capital city, a Lunch and Learn Workshop for local nonprofit organizations, a chamber luncheon focusing on mental health, a GOP meeting, art showings, live music and more. The event lineup features the RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival kickoff and family night at Mills Park, a Healthy Communities event in Silver Springs, CASA volunteer information hour workshop, an afternoon hike along the Ash Canyon trail, art demonstrations, live music and more. The capital city will celebrate Tinseltown, classic cinema and raise money for Carson City school art programs at the 5th annual Hollywood Gala on Saturday, May 18 with the theme "A Star is Born" hosted by Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of multiple felony counts, including burglary, vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property, a sheriff's deputy reported.

Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint in Carson City will hold its kickoff Sassabration fundraiser event "Brunch and Bingo with Bea," a tribute to the late comedy actress, singer and activist Bea Arthur on May 12.

A fundraiser for a Carson City mother who is currently battling stage 4 breast, bone and liver cancer is set for this Saturday, April 27 at Flat Earth Pizza.

The fundraiser for Mila Mangone of Carson City is from opening to closing, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the pizza restaurant, located at 2010 E William Street. Portions of the proceeds collected at the fundraiser will help Mila's treatment plan.

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce its upcoming weekend springtime double feature, including "A Year With Frog and Toad, Kids," and Disney’s "The Jungle Book, Kids." These two shows will run in conjunction for four performances, March 29-31, 2019 the newly renovated Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.
