The sun is shining, the flowers blooming, the birds chirping, the wind gusting, and Carson City is hopping! Easter fun can be found this weekend at the annual EGGstravaganza at Carson Tahoe Medical Center, the Children’s Museum, the Carson Mall, and the Brewery Arts Center.

Head over to Mills Park for the Vietnam Veterans Day Celebration, complete with military vehicles, exhibits, and more. For demonstrations from soldiers with an even older history, the Nevada Civil War Volunteers will be in Dayton Saturday.

It’s a good weekend to be a kid: the Kerak Shrine Circus is in town! Well, it’s in Reno, but that isn’t too far of a drive for elephants, clowns, and cotton candy. Also in Reno, but intended for a slightly older audience, is the Lady Luck Tattoo and Art Expo, coincidentally held at Circus Circus.

For the outdoorsy-types you can join in the March to End Senior Hunger 5K in Dayton; the 5K Glow Run benefitting the Western Nevada College Softball Team; or join a ranger at Washoe Lake State Park for a guided hike.

Opening Weekend Reno Aces tickets benefit Mark Twain Elementary

See the Reno Aces play Albuquerque opening weekend for only $12. Sit in right field at the Sunday, April 19 game at 1:05 p.m. and support the yet to be named Mark Twain Elementary School student selected to sing the National Anthem.

Save up to $10 per ticket and help Mark Twain Elementary School in Carson City raise funds for new playground equipment and snacks for national testing week in April. A singing contest will be held in the near future to determine which student will perform at the game.

Sunday, March 15: Things to do around Carson City

Sunday enjoy the choirs of local elementary schools at the Capital City Community Band’s Salute to Young Musicians Concert in the Community Center’s Bob Boldrick Theater. It won’t cost you a thing, but donations are always welcome.

The first Saturday is always fun here, the Downtown Business Association hosts their monthly wine walk, rain, snow, or shine; and don't miss the raffle with some great prizes. The Elks Lodge is holding a hoop shoot contest for ages 8-13 (as of April 1, 2015), with the winners headed to the District Hoop Shoot in Reno. This is also the last weekend to enjoy a sleigh ride at Sand Harbor; bundle up and enjoy a gorgeous view.

Kayden went up to her mom one afternoon in October and stated, "Mom, I want to go the orphanage and donate presents and sing for all the kids." Robyn replied "I don't think that's how it works anymore, a lot of the kids live in foster homes, but I can find out about adopting a family." "That sounds great!" And so she did.

Carson City Symphony, Carson Mall host Friday's 'Christmas Carol Playalong for Strings'

String players of all ages and levels are invited to join the seventh annual Christmas Carol Play-along this Friday, Dec. 19, from 4 to 5 p.m. inside Carson Mall. This free community event is hosted by Carson City Symphony Association and Carson Mall.

Violin, viola, cello, bass, and harp players are welcome to come and play. Bring your music stand. Everyone else, come and listen or sing along.
