Wine Walk, Super Bowl parties, standup comedy, karaoke and more: Carson City area readies for upcoming weekend

Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

'Unsilent Night' and holiday bells at BAC, toy drive, Santa Train and more: Carson City region readies for eventful weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a toy and gift drive for homeless kids and teens, the 12th annual Christmas Carol Playalong for Strings at the Carson Mall, Carson City’s first-ever "Unsilent Night" at the Brewery Arts Center, a Só Sol dinner with entertainment at Sassafras, a "Pink Party" cancer center fundraiser at the Lighthouse Bar, comedian Dan St. Paul at the Carson Comedy Club and more.

Events, happenings around the Carson City region during Father's Day weekend

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

Hymns and Homebrew is a little bit church pot luck, a little bit pub-culture, and a little bit old fashioned hymn-sing. It's a chance to come as you are and experience traditional music of the church in a new context, and maybe recapture some of the joy of the original composers. State Song Record: Home Means Nevada sing-along at 25,000 feet

Carson City resident Ken Beaton was flying from Las Vegas to Reno Thursday morning on Southwest Airlines when, at 10 a.m., he commissioned a flight attendant to help him lead 154 passengers and crew members in singing “Home Means Nevada” at 25,000 feet.

The 39-year-resident of Carson City printed up 25 sheets of lyrics, passed them out to passengers and encouraged them to share and sing along. A flight attendant recorded it on a cell phone while he sang it over the 737 jet’s public address system.

Nevada prepares to set record for most people to simultaneously sing state song

Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki invites fellow Nevadans to join him, Gov. Brian Sandoval and the Nevada 150 Commission for #NevadaSings, a state-wide simultaneous sing along of “Home Means Nevada.” On Thursday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m., Nevadans will join together to demonstrate their state pride by singing a rendition of “Home Means Nevada” in an attempt to set the record for the most people in an American state to sing their state song at the same time.
