The premium book is open for entries in the livestock shows as well as other competitions, including home arts, cooking, homespun items and sewing.

Carson City, Storey County 4-H annual fabric sale this weekend

The sale is a project of the Carson City/Storey County Leaders Council. All sale proceeds benefit the council’s scholarship fund.

Items can be dropped off at the Carson City Cooperative Extension, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 15 anytime during the week, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. from now until the sale date.
Drop off dates in 2015 are January 17 and 24 and February 13 at Fuji Exhibit Hall from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Carson/Storey Annual 4-H Awards Night

Youth and leaders of the following clubs received recognition for their number of years in a project: Arrowhead Livestock, Bouncing Bunnies, Bug Huggers, Carson Cluckers, Carson Hot Shots, Comstock Hot Shots, 4-Paws, Silver Sage 4-H Community Club (SSCC), 4-H Sewing Project, and the Target Rippers.
Common Cause Unites Women from the Latter-day Saints and the Salvation Army

“Our goal is to build 100 care kits and deliver them to the Dew-drop Inn, the Salvation Army, and the F.I.S.H. organizations here in Carson City,” said Caresse Williams, Humanitarian Specialist for the Latter-day Saints and organizer of the event.

Born on the Fourth of July: Veteran remembers service
Submitted by Karel on Wed, 07/04/2012 - 8:38amWilbur Lane came into the world July 4, 1921 and is one of a handful of remaining World War II veterans who served on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which entered the war Dec.7, 1941 when her planes found the Japanese squadrons attacking Pearl Harbor.
“It was the most decorated ship of WWII, called The Galloping Ghost because (the Japanese) couldn’t find us,” Lane said from his home in Dayton. “Every time they bombed us, they’d announce it on the radio in Japan.”
Carson City car enthusiasts show and shine for cancer-stricken teen
Submitted by editor on Sat, 09/18/2010 - 3:47amFriday night shined in all shapes, sizes and hearts for McKenna Mitchell, a Carson City teen stricken with bone cancer. While McKenna wasn't able to attend because of chemotherapy treatments, Carson City put on a car show the 14-year-old girl would be proud of. The event was held at Kragen-O'Reilly's.
There were 66 entries in the Show and Shine, with all proceeds going to help McKenna's family with medical costs, according to organizers Holly and Kenson Seymour.
