The popular 4-H Fabric sale returns to Fuji Park Exhibit building, 701 Clear Creek Road, Carson City, on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2.

Sales times for Saturday, Feb. 1 are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Sunday, Feb. 2 , sales times will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Fabrics of all kinds and sewing notions will be available for purchase. Most fabric will be sold for a dollar a yard. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Carson City, Storey County's 4-H Council scholarship funds.

WNC Geology Club’s Annual Rock, Gem and Fossil Sale to Raise Scholarship Funds

The public can start or grow a rock collection through the WNC Geology Club's fourth annual free Gem, Mineral and Fossil Sale that runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the Bristlecone Building lobby.

Senator Square: Walmart awards Carson High School cheerleaders $5,000 grant

Carson High School cheerleaders cheered as they entered Walmart in Carson City and then performed two more cheers on top of that. There is an old saying found in a very old book which says, “You have not because you ask not.”

Carson City Kiwanis is Serving Breakfast to Raise Money for Scholarships

Carson City Kiwanis is serving short stacks for a tall cause at the Carson City Applebee’s on Oct. 5, 2019 from 8 to 10 a.m. The entire proceeds of this event will support the Ralph Denny Memorial Scholarship that awards a one-time $750 scholarship to a local high school graduate each school year. Originally named the Carson City Kiwanis Annual Scholarship, it was renamed following the passing of long-time Kiwanis member, Ralph Denny.

Opportunity sparks positive gains for Nevada scholarship students

A report released last Friday by the Nevada Department of Education showed that nearly 70 percent of students receiving the Nevada Opportunity Scholarship experienced a positive score change according the report, based on six standardized measurements utilized.

The Foundation’s mission is to provide resources to maintain and improve local healthcare services. One of the resources most in demand is highly trained healthcare personnel. The CVMC Hospital Foundation scholarships are intended to assist students in pursuing healthcare careers which will improve not only the local healthcare systems but the healthcare industry overall.

Disabled American Veterans gives first Western Nevada College scholarship

The Reno Chapter No. 1 Disabled American Veterans organization has awarded the first-ever $1,000 scholarship to go to a Western Nevada College student. The scholarship, administered by the Western Nevada College Foundation in Carson City, will be awarded in November to a disabled veteran, or the dependent of a disabled veteran, at a dinner in Sparks Nov. 6.

Nevada Officials Pleased With Sandoval’s Funding Of Millennium Scholarship

CARSON CITY – State officials said today they are pleased that Gov. Brian Sandoval has proposed continuing the Guinn Millennium Scholarship program in his budget, including a one-time infusion of $10 million from the general fund to keep it solvent through 2016.
“I was pleased to see that,” said Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford, D-Las Vegas, in a budget hearing today.
