Head over to Eagle Valley Middle School for a rummage sale benefiting their LEGO Robotics Team; you may find something fun for your patio. The Spring Fling Stop and Shop at the Plaza Hotel will help you spruce up your wardrobe. Or head up to Silver City for the big closing sale at Doodad’s Emporium. If you find yourself in Gardnerville, the First Annual Summer Splendor Showcase and Expo features vendors galore.

Annual Capital City Farm Days at Fuji Park introduces youth to Nevada agriculture

Attendees will include public, private and home-schooled students and their families from Carson City, Storey County, Douglas County and Dayton Valley.
New UNR professor specializes in autonomous cars, robotics and intelligent systems

He comes to Nevada by way of a Visiting Fellowship at the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton and Freie University Berlin, Germany where he has been a professor of artificial intelligence and robotics.

The Open House is free to the public and we will have on display private and military aircraft, airplane rides, tethered balloon rides, RC Airplane exhibitions, and formation flights, Robotics exhibitions, drone zone, the Challenger Learning Center as well as fun and food for all ages.

The theme of Winterfest is WinterFlix, like Netflix. Congratulations to the Winterfest Candidates who have been nominated by their classmates. One prince and princess will be chosen by a class vote for the freshmen, sophomores and juniors. One king and queen will be chosen among the senior class. Royalty court will be announced Thursday.

Many Carson High School clubs and teams adopted families from the Empire School District for the Christmas holiday. Thank you to HOSA, FBLA, Boys’ basketball, boy’s baseball, Key Club, Link Crew, and Leadership classes for providing gifts and essentials to these families.

Senator Square: Carson High ski team hosts Warren Miller film 'No Turning Back' Dec. 12
Submitted by editor on Sun, 11/23/2014 - 8:58amThe CHS Ski Team will be hosting the latest Warren Miller Film, “No Turning Back” on Dec. 12, 7 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. Tickets can be purchased from any ski team member or from their advisor Adrienne Schneider.
Tickets are $8 for students and $12 for adults. They are also selling raffle tickets in conjunction with the movie. A multiple of prizes are available that evening at the showing of the film. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or 25 tickets for $20. Doors open at 6 PM.

UNR career program aimed at high school students interested in science, engineering

“The idea behind this program is to offer exposure for students to realize careers in many specialized areas of science and engineering,” Jacque Ewing-Taylor, associate director, Raggio Research Center for STEM Education and institutional grants coordinator, said.

The annual free event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carson City Airport, 2600 College Parkway. More than 4,000 visitors attended in 2012, and this year’s open house promises plenty of excitement with dozens of aircraft on display and FREE plane rides for children 8-17 years of age.

Three Nevada teams Compete at 2012 World Robotics Championship

Teams compete in their local area to receive a coveted invitation to the international robotics champions at the World Festival, also known as the "Superbowl of Smarts".
Teams become ambassadors for their region and schools, and take on the additional challenge to earn their way to St. Louis, MO. Held at the Edward Jones Dome, in the biggest FIRST® Championship ever, 12,000 students from 32 countries competed in three robotics championships.

Carson High's 'Brobots' team wins robotics competition
Submitted by admin on Sun, 02/26/2012 - 11:16amThe Carson High School "Brobots" robotics team won the Northern Nevada FIRST Tech Challenge Championship yesterday, and qualified to compete in national competition in St. Louis.
The CHS gym was host to 17 teams from California and Nevada who did battle with robots. The teams built and operated the robots, which had to perform specific tasks like moving boxes and picking up balls.
This was the first year that CHS has fielded a robotics team.
Silver State High School's RoboMagic team also competed in the event yesterday.
