Heading into last day of 2019, we're looking at partly sunny skies with a high around 50 and low around 30. Activities around the capital city region are lined up through the day and evening. Enjoy and celebrate as we prepare to toast a welcome to 2020. Also do consider a designated driver, cab ride, Lyft or Uber to be on the safe side for your ride home if out celebrating. Ring in the New Year with a great read and be entered to win prizes at the same time. While reading is usually its own reward, patrons who take part in the Carson City Library's Winter Reading Challenge will also be earning raffle tickets as they lose themselves in a good book or peruse the daily paper.

As we head into the final Monday of 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of light snow in the morning as a weak weather system brushes the region. Events around the Carson City area include a driver's education class offered through Western Nevada College Continuing Education, a luncheon featuring Patricia Ackerman, a Democratic primary candidate for Nevada's 2nd Congressional District, art activities and more.

Events include a Christmas Through the Years presentation at the Carson Valley Community Theater, Open Mic Night at A to Zen Gift Shop, musicians Lauren Kepler and Dan Cypher at Bella Vita Bistro, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club and much more!

Celebrate New Year's early with TOCCATA: Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus's new cnocert: "Bring on the Bubbly/Adios 2019." Join us at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29 in the elegant Genoa Lakes Golf Club Ballroom. Pre-concert champagne and hors d'oeuvres at 3 p.m.

CARSON CITY NYE CELEBRATIONS:

A long weekend is just beginning. Tonight, funnyman Steven Briggs kicks off three nights of comedians at Carson Comedy inside of the Nugget Casino. Whiskey Tavern on Highway 50 East hosts a Friday night karaoke party. Enjoy the music stylings of Tom Miller during dinner at Living the Good Life, then stick around for some dancing.

Friends of the Carson City Library is hosting an ‘Evening in Paris’ New York New Year's Eve Party on Dec. 31st from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Carson Plaza Event Center, 211 E. 9th Street.

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. — Ring in the New Year with a three-mile, round-trip hike along the Nature Trail at Fort Churchill State Historic Park.

Carson City offered plenty of venues with which to ring in the new year. From lounges to galas, there was no shortage of New Year's Eve entertainment in the Nevada State Capital.

Carson City:

Law enforcement is preparing for the annual New Year's Eve party held at Stateline, an outdoor gathering that at one time saw 50,000 people in the streets.

Celebrate New Years with CASI bingo. That's right CASI will be hosting bingo at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverley Drive on New Years day! Bring your friends and family for a fun and exciting afternoon of bingo. In addition to the prize money given to the winners of the games there will be raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing too. Doors will open at 11:30 AM and the first game will start at 12:30. Buy-in is $10 and extra packets are $5. All other games are $1. The snack bar will be open offering hot dogs, chips and candy. Sometimes the wonderful CASI volunteers will bring soup.

Dance to Reno's well-known big band sound of Deep Groove. Watch a live feed from Times Square as we count down as the ball drops and we ring in the new year East Coast time. We should all be in bed by 10:30 and who doesn't like that? Proceeds to benefit Piper's Opera House Programs.

Nevada Humane Society wants you to ring in the New Year by making a resolution to neuter your male dog or cat during their Happy Neuter Year campaign. At this time, the only appointments left are for small, male dogs and male cats.

Due to the high volume of celebrants within the Stateline casino core area during this event, U.S. Highway 50 may be closed to vehicle traffic in the evening if necessary for public safety.

Carson City revelers can ring in the New Year in the grand style of the Big Apple during the annual New York New Year’s Eve Black and White Ball 6-10 p.m. Dec. 31.

Partygoers will celebrate with the East Coast as the ball drops on Times Square at 9 p.m. Pacific Standard Time as part of the celebration, which benefits Carson City Library.

Celebrate New Year’s Day 2016 with Nevada State Parks. Guided hikes led by park rangers and local volunteers will be offered at State Parks throughout Nevada as part of the nationwide First Day Hikes Program. Nevada State Parks is waiving entrance fees for all first day hikers.

The Carson Nugget threw down the ultimate disco-era themed New Year's Eve party Wednesday night to ring in the new year. Illuminated disco balls, streamers, balloons, dancing and music all played out as party-goers celebrated the arrival of 2015.

Nevada Humane Society wants you to ring in the New Year by making a resolution to neuter your male dog or cat during their Happy Neuter Year campaign.

Sponsored by PetSmart Charities, the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America, the Happy Neuter Year campaign will provide a limited number of $20 neuter surgeries for male dogs and cats during the month of January.

If that should occur, vehicle traffic will be diverted around the Stateline casino core area using upper and lower Lake Parkway Drive.
