Carson City prepares for high winds, flooding potential with Thursday's arriving storm

Carson City staff is expecting rain from the arriving storm to continue through Thursday. There will be periods of heavy rain and high winds with gusts between 70 to 80 miles per hour.

Carson City Public Works: One lane section of Combs Canyon Road closed due to flood damage

CARSON CITY — Due to flooding that occurred this morning, a 100-foot section of Combs Canyon Road, an 1/8 of a mile south of the Lakeview Road intersection will be closed to one lane of travel.

Multiple trails, Curry at Rhodes Street in Carson City closed due to flooding

Carson City Public Works crews are mitigating flood prone areas Tuesday and will address concerns accordingly. The storm drain system is operating at capacity, resulting in water in roadways and localized intersection flooding. When the storm drains are at maximum capacity water can be observed flowing outwardly.

This is a normal response. All personnel are at their full ability assisting citizens.

Carson City Landfill closed through the weekend due to flooding

The Carson City Landfill is closed until Monday, Jan. 16, due to flooding as a result of the recent storms.

Lyon County Manager: Dayton, Stagecoach, Silver Springs experience flooding due to heavy rain

UPDATE 722AM: Heavy rains have caused significant mud flow and standing water on the majority of the County Roads in central Lyon County.

Pottassi Road and Rancho Road in east Dayton Valley have significant water flowing down them with numerous structured threatened. Central Lyon Fire is attempting to evacuate a family who's home is reportedly taking water.

Carson City reactivates Emergency Management Operations Center due to flash flooding

Flash floods early Wednesday morning prompted the Carson City Emergency Management Operations Center to reactivate, officials said.

Carson City Fire Department, Sheriff's Office and Public Works have responded to multiple areas where flash flooding is underway, said Fire Chief Bob Schreihans. The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 5:45 a.m. Wednesday for Carson City and Douglas County.

Leave your tree, sans decorations and cut into three foot sections, out by your curb on your regular trash day. Be safe out there, stay warm, and good luck with all your resolutions.
