Wine tasting to benefit Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation

The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation will host the 11th Annual Grapes and Gates wine tasting event on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Edgewood Clubhouse’s North Room beginning at 6 pm. Enjoy a beautiful Lake Tahoe sunset while tasting exquisite regional wines and gourmet foods from the area’s top restaurants.

Tonight: Mile High Jazz Band presents "Potluck: A Smorgasbord of Poems and Big-Band Jazz"

The Mile High Jazz Band and vocalist Sheryl Adams will be joined by several poets and readers and guest vocalist June Joplin for a lively evening of big-band jazz music and poetry with a new twist. For "Potluck: A Smorgasbord of Poems and Big-Band Jazz," poets names will be drawn from a hat for each reading, followed by a big band tune.

The program features award-winning poets and readers Krista Lukas, Tracy McQuay, Wayne Carlson, Lee Warner, Terri Breeden, and Joe Crowley.

Admission is $5 general at the door, and free for age 18 and under.

Holiday Jazz and Poetry

The Mile High Jazz Band and vocalist Sheryl Adams will be joined by Rita Geil and other award-winning poets for an evening of big-band jazz and poetry on Tuesday, December 13, 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., at Comma Coffee. The theme of the evening, "Illuminations," relates to the holidays and to life.

Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, is across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City.

General admission is $5 at the door, and free for age 18 and under. Dance instruction, 6:00-7:15 p.m. is $5 additional.
