You’ll have from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. to drop off your donation to the Holiday for the Hungry Frozen Turkey Drop at the Carson Nugget; you’ll see the FISH truck on Carson Street and can drop it off without leaving your car. Sherry Rupert, Executive Director of the State of Nevada Indian Commission, is tonight’s speaker at the Nevada State Museum. Learn about the future of the Stewart Indian School, and probably some interesting things about its history. The Polar Express begins its seasonal run this weekend.

Carson City businesses step up to help youth injured in Kings Canyon crash

UPDATE 10:15PM: Seven teenagers injured in a single vehicle rollover accident last Thursday night on Kings Canyon Road will get additional support from the local community as Carson City businesses are donating proceeds to help pay for medical costs.

Tiffani’s 5th annual Sealed Toy Drive begins with 17 drop off locations around Carson City

Tiffani’s 5th annual Sealed Toy Drive has commenced with 17 drop off locations in and around Carson City. The "sealed" toy drive allows hospitalized children who have to stay in their room, or are unable to play with used toys, a chance to receive a small gift basket of toys and games to play with over the holidays.

Carson City Pizza Factory partners with No Kid Hungry campaign in September

One in six kids in the United States struggle with hunger, meaning that instead of worrying about being a kid they are worried about their next meal. The good news is this problem has a solution. Through the month of September the Pizza Factory in Carson City will donate $1 of every special extra-large pizza to the No Kid Hungry campaign.

Like many of you, I have a weather app on my phone. It says to expect some snow this morning, so I’m hoping it’s a liar. Make Monday easy on yourself and let the Pizza Factory take care of dinner. A portion of today’s proceeds will be donated to Paul Guzetta, a 36 year old local man who is battling an infection in intensive care. Lending a hand to his wife and kids during this tough time is as easy as ordering a pizza (or one of their yummy salads or pasta.) Senator Square: A symphony of students perform at UNR’s Nightingale Hall

The CHSD Orchestra, under the direction of Brian Fox, participated in the Washoe County School District High School Orchestra Festival 2017 at UNR’s Nightingale Hall. Judges from Sacramento and the Bay Area rated this group alongside similar groups from the Reno and Sparks area.

I am quite fond of Tuesdays. For a weekday, they usually have some great offerings. Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.
