Nevada Dept. Public Safety commissions 17 new peace officers at academy graduation
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 11/10/2019 - 4:18pmRENO — The Nevada Department of Public Safety commissioned the state's newest Peace Officers at the Academy 86 graduation ceremony held Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Galena High School Theater.
Of the 17 graduates, 11 will join the Nevada DPS, Parole and Probation Division and 6 will join the Nevada DPS, Highway Patrol Division. The new Peace Officers will be assigned statewide.

The event was organized by Jill Larson, who coordinated with the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Nevada and the Healthy Habits Program.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office to participate in Thursday's 'Tip a Cop' at Applebee’s

The event will be held at Applebee’s restaurant located at 3300 South Carson Street. The public will be served by uniformed officers from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for lunch and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm for dinner.
NDOW seeks to hire 7 new game wardens for mostly rural duty stations

“The agency has experienced several retirements and some turnover in the last few years,” said Tyler Turnipseed, Chief Game Warden at NDOW.
Lyon County to celebrate National Senior Health and Fitness Day

As an official host site, Lyon County Human Services will hold a Senior Health and Fitness Day Fair at Dayton Senior Center, 320 Old Dayton Valley Road in Dayton, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be resistance exercise demonstrations throughout the day, and booths offering information, resources, and services for older adults.
