'W is for Wungnema' celebration Saturday a success

There were approximately 125–150 guests in attendance and a good time was had by all who attended.

CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, October 6, 5-7pm. The exhibit will be in the gallery from October 6, 2017 – January 18, 2018.
The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.

Voltaire Canyon fire produces tornado-type phenomenon

Attached is a compilation of witness photographs as well as a video of the wind phenomenon, which appeared with a combination of thick smoke and winds in the area.

Start the day at the Silver Dollar Car Classic and you can get your fill of shiny chrome and breakfast, too; the Kiwanis will be serving up pancakes until 10:30 a.m. The Downtown Carson City Wine Walk has been infiltrated by the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Several of the stops will be hosting musicians, in addition to vino.

It is one of few terminal rivers, meaning that it will never reach the ocean. Join park staff for a history trunk discussion, led by River Wrangler Linda Conlin.
The Carson River history trunk contains historical items, examples of local plants and animals, maps and photographs. Participants will take a short walk along the river and hear about the successes and challenges of preserving this precious, natural resource.

Mountain Picassos: Basque Arborglyphs of the Great Basin

“Mountain Picassos: Basque Arborglyphs of the Great Basin” is part of the Nevada Touring Initiative’s Traveling Exhibition Program and will be on display at WNC’s Carson City campus from Monday, Feb. 13 through Friday, April 7.
It provides a rare opportunity to see some of the intimate personal images inscribed by Basque sheepherders in the aspen groves of the Great Basin during the first half of the 20th century.

Twenty-one student artists from Western Nevada College, Carson City, have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host an artists’ reception on Tuesday, February 7, 5:30-7pm. Carson City hosts international librarians visiting Nevada State Library and Archives
