Reno band The Sextones will perform funk and soul at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 29.

The board of directors of the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation, a Reno based philanthropic organization awarded the Brewery Arts Center $18,576 to upgrade its stage equipment for not only the Levitt AMP Outdoor Concert series which kicks off this Friday night, June 23 with a free concert featuring the Grammy nominated swing band Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, but to be used in the existing indoor theaters year round.

In this edition of It’s Your City, host Cortney Bloomer sits down with Jeff Fast of the Brewery Arts Center to discuss the Levitt-AMP Concert Series that begins this Friday in Carson City featuring Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

Soul-stirring jam band Dangermuffin, who brought last year's Levitt AMP Outdoor Concert to its feet with its groove-fueled, positive vibe music, returns this Saturday to Carson City with a performance at the Brewery Arts Center.

Rural Nevada is the recipient of more than $500,000 in grants from the Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT) to aid in the marketing efforts of local tourism organizations, announced Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison.

Sassafras is the place for some bluesy Americana with Muddy Boots and the Porch Pounders. The sixth annual Hopefest Concert and Fundraiser at Carson Tahoe Hospital kicks off at 5 p.m. Enjoy food trucks, live music with the Waybacks, and more at the free, family friendly event. McFadden Plaza is where you’ll find Jazz and Beyond’s concert with the Jackie Landrum Band, Living the Good Life is serving up a performance by Prey for Son, or take the stage yourself at Carson Lanes’ karaoke. HopeFest6, a free outdoor concert with headliners, “The Waybacks” is set for Friday at Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. All proceeds from food, refreshments and raffle ticket sales directly benefit local cancer patients undergoing lifesaving medical treatment, providing support for basic needs that go beyond the hospital walls.

I hope you like live music, Carson City, because tonight you’ve got plenty of it. No matter what your style, there is someone for you. Jazz and Beyond brings a free outdoor concert to the Minnesota Street Stage at the Brewery Arts Center this evening. The Nevada Arts Council welcomes Justin Favela’s new exhibit to their OXS Gallery with a reception and talk by the artist.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to be teaming up with local dining favorites, The Cracker Box in Carson City and Js’ Old Town Bistro in Dayton, for a day of support for local cancer patients in need, and to kick off HopeFest6, a rockin’ benefit concert to be held the following week at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

Living in the dusty, dry high desert means that we escape cancerous car rot. Additionally, it’s probably the reason that Northern Nevada is a mecca for classic cars and the shows that celebrate them. The Silver Dollar Classic Car Show has long been Carson’s kick off to the hot, melty August nights that follow – the Max Casino is where it all begins.
