Chautauquan Kim Harris will portray Lizzie A. Borden on Wednesday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m., and historian Mark McLaughlin will speak on “Lake Tahoe and the Comstock Era; Stories, Facts and Fun” on Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m., at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

Good morning Carson City, and happy June! We have a ton of events going on today in our beloved capital city, with the June wine walk, the first day of the farmer’s market, a brew fest at Fuji park, and more! With a high of 75, it’s shaping up to finally start to feel like summer (knock on wood).

Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. Later there's a cruise night gathering at Carson Mall to benefit Safe Grad Night, an Italian dinner fundraiser at the Governor's Mansion to benefit Carson City's homeless, live music at Living the Good Life and A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, and much more. As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Sierra Music Society continues its fine Artists In Concert programs with “Sister Acts: From Opera to Broadway” on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 3 pm.

The concert will be at St. John’s Presbyterian Church located at 1070 W. Plumb Lane in Reno, NV. This wonderful afternoon of music will feature two gifted young artists: Soprano Alyssa Caplan and Mezzo-Soprano Anna Caplan accompanied by Carol House on piano.

We're working our way into Thursday, April 25, 2019 and feeling the warmup around the Carson City region. Winding down our work week we have art, theater and railroad history talks, library presentations, a fitness walk, climate change discussion, back pain wellness workshop, music ensemble at the community center and more. Enjoy the day.

Country dancing is coming to Virginia City on Thursday, April 25 with a free community event at Pipers Opera House. The Carson Lanes Country Kickers, a dance group that meets and dances weekly at Carson Lanes’ Eleventh Frame Lounge, will bring their skill, enthusiasm and fun to the first, in what hopefully will be the first of many country dance nights on the spring-loaded dance floor at Piper’s.

CARSON CITY — Nevada’s theatrical history is long, rich and storied — from Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City to the McKissick Theater in Reno to the Eureka Opera House to the casino showrooms big and small around the state.

The state has experienced a wide array of colorful characters, theater activities and movements which have enriched the lives of its citizens and enhanced its cultural legacy.

Sierra Music Society is pleased to announce that the always popular “P’Opera!” is planning a fun-filled event with its “P’Opera! Alfresco” at Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley at 19 Lightning W Ranch Road, New Washoe City NV 89704 on Sunday, June 16th. There is only one show: 6 pm. $20 per person.

Bring your own picnic and enjoy sunshine, fresh air and “P’Opera!” Music on the beautiful grounds of Toiyabe. If you don’t have time to prepare a picnic, purchase dinner from Toiyabe GC who will be grilling burgers, dogs, and tri-tip.

Sierra Nevada Ballet welcomes the spring season with the annual production of Brew, Bräts and Ballet: A Celebration of Choreography with performances in Carson City and Reno beginning this weekend.

Sierra Nevada Ballet welcomes in the Spring Season with the annual production of Brew, Brats and Ballet-A Celebration of choreography on April 6 (7:30 PM) and April 7 (2:00 PM) at the Reno Little Theater and on April 13 (7:00 PM) at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

This year the BBB presentation features six different choreographers with each one presenting a special short work and a short talk before it. The program culminates with a post performance Q and A session between choreographers and audience.

The sweeping, intimate and heart-rending drama of Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” will be presented by TOCCATA, Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, April 13-19 with performances in Gardnerville, Incline Village and Reno.

Caitlin Jemma is a musician born and raised in Virginia City. She has been touring the globe for several years now, spreading her message of love and music.

Jemma recently completed a European tour, and now she's back in the Silver State. She was scheduled to perform at Piper's Opera House tonight for the West Coast Songwriter's Showcase in Virginia City, until Mother Nature stepped in.

No high school on the planet has as many events regularly happening as that of Carson High School, and one of the biggest of the year, Winterfest, begins Feb. 1. This year, Leadership class has determined the theme will be Winterflix, a play on the popular Netflix streaming service that allows customers to watch a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, documentaries, and more on thousands of internet-connected devices.

Please join us at Piper's Opera House for an intimate evening of music. This gathering will showcase various singer-songwriters and touring artists from the West Coast.

Virginia City is known for two things: mining history and quirky, off-the-wall events. In 2019, those two things are joined together with the announcement of the historic Nevada town’s annual special events lineup and online ticket sales.

TACH (Traditional Association for Cultural Harmony), a non-profit organization founded by internationally-renowned musician Thakur Chakrapani Singh is going to present “World Music Award Night” on Dec. 16, 2018 at 4 p.m.

The Piper’s Players Presents Nightmare Before Christmas directed by Rhoda Thalman and music directed by Jocelyn Burbidge held at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City.
