Student Recital with Kantu Inka at Dayton Senior Center Aug. 12
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 08/05/2022 - 1:20pmDayton, Nevada - This summer a group of Dayton adults have been learning to play a traditional Andean instrument, the zampoña flute, with Nevada Arts Council Teaching Artists Carlos Ocampo and Julie Lozada Ocampo of Kantu Inka.
They will demonstrate what they’ve learned on their Andean pan flutes, joining Julie and Carlos for a performance at the Dayton Senior Center on Friday, August 12 at 6pm.
Creative Aging Poetry Reading in Silver City July 25

Summer Writing Workshop for Older Adults with Nevada's Poet Laureate

The series of poetry writing sessions for older adults will be held on Monday evenings from 5:30 PM until 7 PM beginning June 20 and concluding on July 18 (no class July 4 due to the holiday).
In addition, there will be a culminating event on Monday, July 25, 2022.

They are one of three pairs of teammates, the only Mountain West players and two of the 20 players selected to the watch list.
Food Pantry seeks gifts for Stagecoach, Silver Springs children and seniors
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 12/07/2018 - 10:33pmDecember 21 is the Silver Stage Food Pantry’s fifth annual “Shopping with the Elves” event. From 1-5 p.m., parents who are guests of the Food Pantry can shop for gifts for their children.
The event includes a chance for children to visit with Santa and have holiday refreshments while their parents shop. The Pantry is in need of gifts for ages infant to 18 years.
Home-bound Seniors: The Pantry also welcomes donations of gifts for seniors. They deliver baskets and gifts to 40 home-bound elders, and sing carols to them as well.
Carson City Song Circle hosts July 4 potluck at Rafter PM Ranch, fireworks to follow at Mills Park
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 07/04/2013 - 11:00amCelebrate July 4 with patriotic songs and fireworks. The Carson City Song Circle invites the public to its Independence Day song and barbecue celebration. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at Rafter PM Ranch, 5000 Hells Bells Road, Carson City.
The potluck barbecue follows between 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the patio. At 9 p.m., the folding chairs will be moved a few steps to a field looking west toward the fireworks at Mills Park and Carson High. Organizers recommend bringing a folding chair as there will be a limited number of chairs available at the ranch.

Ayres, a longtime Carson City resident and champion for the elderly and disabled in Nevada, will be held today, Friday, in Carson City at the First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Musser and Division streets.
A gathering for family and friends of Ayres will follow at Cafe at Adele's, 1112 North Carson Street.
Ayres was 92 when she died May 27, 2013.
