A Carson City Chamber of Commerce mixer will be held tonight at Carson City Toyota Scion, beginning at 5 p.m.

BAWN fundraiser

The Builders Association of Western Nevada (BAWN) Professional Women in Business (PWB) is hosting a fundraiser Saturday, July 31 from 1-6 pm at Empire Ranch Golf Course.

We will showcase 30 local vendors amenities, programs, services, good and professional networking for women in and around the Carson area. Magic 95.5 will be hosting a live broadcast the day of the event.

Nevada Governor's Conference on Tourism to return

After a two-year hiatus the Nevada Governor's Conference on Tourism will return in December, state officials announced Thursday.
The conference will take place Dec. 7-8 at the Peppermill Resort Casino in Reno. It will focus mainly on current travel trends, who is vacationing and ways to lure travelers and vacationers to Nevada.

CARSON CITY – The popular Governor’s Conference on Tourism will return in December after a two-year hiatus, Gov. Jim Gibbons and Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki announced today.
The conference put on by the Nevada Commission on Tourism, NCOT, had been put on hold due to budget limitations.

Argument over Facebook lands Carson City couple in jail

A couple arguing over the social networking site Facebook landed the pair in jail, each facing battery charges and one facing a child endangerment charge.

Deputies were dispatched to the 3500 block of Harrison on a domestic battery call. Dispatch advised officers the reporting victim was the 17-year-old daughter of a woman who was bleeding from the face.

When deputies arrived on April 22 they located the 38-year-old male suspect in the living room of the home. The couple are engaged and live together, according to the arrest report.

The Northern Nevada Cyber Center, located at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has issued a computer intrusion scam warning. Many Facebook users are reporting their accounts being hacked.
