Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'The Lilley,' Northern Nevada's newest Art Museum

The event is part of CCAI’s ongoing Nevada Neighbors speakers’ series and will take place at 6pm at the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.
There will be an informal reception for Baker Prindle preceding the event at 5:30pm. No tickets needed; the public is cordially invited.
Las Vegas senior is Nevada Poetry Out Loud champion

The statewide competition for high school students started in the fall with more than 3,500 participants and narrowed to nine regional finalists for Saturday’s championships at the studios of KNPB Channel 5 Public Broadcasting in Reno.

The exhibition runs now through June 30, 2019. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, March 29, 5-7pm in the Sierra Room, and the artist will give a brief talk about his photography at 5:30 p.m.

Mile High Jazz Band presents 'Hang Ups: Big Band Jazz and Poetry' Tuesday in Carson City
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 03/11/2019 - 12:46pmThe Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Jakki Ford will be joined by several poets and readers on Tuesday, March 12 for an evening of big-band music and poetry on the theme "Hang Ups."
Each poem will be followed by a related big-band tune. The event will be at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. It runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 at the door and free for age 18 and under.

Nevada Arts Council’s Basin to Range Exchange to launch in April

The Nevada Basin to Range Exchange, BRX, is a one-year program that includes in-person gatherings, intercommunity arts-based exchange activities and peer-to-peer mentorship, said Tony Manfredi, executive director of the Nevada Arts Council.

Senator Square: Solutions classes through CHS offer extra help to all students

The grant money provides out-of-school-time supports for at-risk students. At risk, a broad term in this grant, includes students who are at risk of not passing a class, at risk of becoming truant, or just in need of a safe-place after school.
Photo Finished art exhibit hosted by Capital City Arts Initiative

CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Thursday, Jan. 24, 5 to 6:30 p.m. (no longer January 17). The free exhibition is available to the public from January 14 to March 31, 2019, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.
The artists are all students in Photography Instructor Kara Ferrin’s Advanced Photo class.

Joining the RJO is Pat Esters' Gospel Choir, starring vocalists Pat Esters, Lori Johnson, David Wells, and Caitlin Collins. The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra will open the show at the Reno performances.
The first shows are Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Cargo Concert Hall at Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno.

Carson City Symphony chorus begins rehearsals for Holiday Treat Concert

Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. under the direction of Michael Langham at the Choral Room in Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road, in Carson City.
The Carson City Symphony Chorus is an expansion of the Carson Chamber Singers, now in its 34th year. The Chorus is open to all singers, high-school age and above.
