National Cowboy Poetry Gathering

As part of the ongoing Nevada Humanities Exhibition Series, a new exhibition, Colors of the West: Youth Art from the 2020 National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, opened online on June 4, 2020 at nevadahumanities.org and will be on display as a virtual gallery indefinitely.

People across Nevada nominated exceptional individuals and organizations for the 2019 Nevada Humanities Awards. These awards are for outstanding achievements in, and contributions to, the humanities, conferred bi-annually by Nevada Humanities.

Every other year, Nevada Humanities honors the achievements of individuals and organizations from across the Silver State that foster cultural enrichment and deepen our understanding of the of the human experience by facilitating opportunities for Nevadan’s to engage with the humanities.

Nevada Humanities is pleased to announce that 27 grants totaling over $104,500 were awarded to fund humanities programs across Nevada, including four in Carson City area.

Nevada’s New Year’s resolution is to ensure that travelers go home with more stories than souvenirs. With the lineup of events scheduled in early 2016, that is sure to ring true. Nevada is the seventh-largest state in the Union. There are 109,781 square miles to explore, from the basin-and-range landscape on the northern end to the scenic desert panoramas in the south. This summer, discover your Nevada on a road trip to Tonopah or Valley of Fire State Park, or maybe drive the U.S. 50-Interstate 80 loop from the Reno-Tahoe area.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — A project to support air lift to Elko and another to create webisodes about Ely’s historical railway are among the 70 proposals approved for funding from the state’s Rural Grants Program, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki announced Wednesday. The Nevada Commission on Tourism has authorized $414,854 in grants for programs and activities designed to deliver more tourists to rural Nevada.

The National Endowment for the Arts will award $768,500 in grants to the Nevada Arts Council, the Western Folklife Center, the Churchill Arts Council and the Nevada Ballet Theater as part of the second half of NEA’s fiscal year 2014 funding, Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced Thursday.

The NAC was awarded $663,500 for the third year of its Partnership Agreement Grant, which supports the agency’s programs, outreach activities and various grant categories.
