Wild Horse Children's Theater will present "Honk! Jr.," the award-winning musical that transformed Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of the Ugly Duckling into a modern musical comedy.

Performances will be at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St., on Dec. 8-10 and 15-17. Show times are 7 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sundays.

Under the direction of Richard Doede, the Capital City Community Band will open its fortieth concert season with a Free “Tribute to the American Red Cross”, Saturday, October 28th following the parade from 2:00-3:00pm at the Amphitheater in the Legislative Mall, Carson City, Nevada for Nevada Day.

The Brewery Arts Center will continue an unforgettable season of free concerts under the stars in Carson City. It’s time again to grab your family, friends and neighbors and head on down to Brewery Arts Center, Carson City's newest community treasure, and enjoy this week’s family-friendly free outdoor concert, Dusty Green Bones Band and The Cherry Pickers.

The Jazz and Beyond Music Festival has buddied up with something new this year. Today and tomorrow, the Jukebox International Film Festival features fifteen contestants competing in four categories. Youth Theater Carson City and Western Nevada Musical Theater alum, Grant Davis, is back in town to show support for ‘Something Like Summer,’ the Australian musical he stars in. Make sure you’re in McFadden Plaza around 5 p.m. Davis will be performing songs from the movie and music from his debut album on the Third Street Stage.

Carson City native Grant Davis, 20, stars in the musical film, "Something Like Summer," the award-winning new movie that has won raves on the 2017 film festival circuit, including prominent engagements in Sydney, Australia; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Los Angeles, San Diego, Philadelphia and Miami.

Youth Theatre Carson City features its production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s "Into the Woods, Jr." beginning this Friday, July 28 and running through August 6 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents "Getting to Know The Sound of Music" at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall weekends June 9-18.

Performances are Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.

"Getting to Know The Sound of Music" is uniquely adapted for youth performers from the musical "The Sound of Music," and is the world’s most endearingly popular musical.

May is a month to celebrate historic preservation and archaeology in Nevada.

Nevada agencies and organizations have worked to spread awareness of archaeological and historic preservation efforts throughout the state, encouraging both residents and visitors to explore and learn about Nevada’s significant archaeological and historical treasures.

Sierra Nevada Ballet will perform Brew, Brats, and Ballet this Sunday, April 30, 4 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City. Tickets can be purchased breweryarts.org.

Actor, Comedian Kevin Farley will be appearing at the Carson Comedy Club, inside the Carson Nugget in Carson City for two shows on Friday, April 7 at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Farley is the main event at the Carson Nugget during a weekend packed with live entertainment.

You’ll want to read today’s list, fun stuff all over and something for everyone. Psst… Daytonites… Your kids are on spring break right now, and Carson has some great ways to keep them entertained. Younger ones will enjoy a trip to the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada; Tuesdays feature a story and craft activity that’s included with admission. Wild Horse Children’s Theater finishes up its spring production of ‘Annie, Jr: The Musical,’ so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented kids on stage. Muscle Powered will be out and about for their monthly Trash Mob and invite you to help clean up a little corner of our valley. The Annual Polar Plunge at Zephyr Cove is a brave way to help the Special Olympics raise money, and the costumes get wilder every year. Keep reading and enjoy the weather before the clouds return.

SATURDAY:

Irish eyes are smiling on us: it’s going to be a gorgeous day. You won’t have to look far for some green beer, whiskey, or corned beef – there will be St. Patrick’s Day parties all over. Live music is on the menu, as well. Choose from Men of Worth at the Brewery Arts Center, an all ages punk show at Sassafras, or Stereo Galaxy in the McFadden Plaza, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The brave ones will be at the St. Baldrick Fundraiser at Red’s Old 395 where you’ll see some heads shaved for a good cause. Where ever you end up, just make sure you have a plan to get home safely.

Auditions will be on Thursday, March 30 and Saturday, April 1 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W King Street in Carson City. Callbacks are Saturday, April 1st , after auditions, and performances are weekends June 9-18. Auditions are by appointment only! You must call for an audition slot.

What’s this? A weekend with no snow in sight? That’s the best news I’ve heard in months. Welcome to the wrestlers and swimmers who are in town for their respective tournaments: you’ll find other fun things on this list to occupy your downtime. It’s a St. Patty’s celebration in Virginia City this weekend with the parade, Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest, and Ball Buster Saloon Crawl. Bragging rights are on the line at the Sixth Annual Thirsty Boy Homebrew Competition sponsored by Just Brew It. “The sun will come out tomorrow!” Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents the musical “Annie, Jr.” weekends March 10th and 17th at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City.

Based on the Broadway favorite and well-known comic strip, “Annie, Jr.” recounts the adventures of a spunky Depression era orphan (Annie) determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage, run by the sinister Miss Hannifin.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for clear skies, but there are rumors of snow flurries. Luckily there are indoor and outdoor activities, no matter what blows our way. At the top of the list for today is Winter, Wine, Spirits, and All That Jazz at the Brewery Arts Center. Their annual fundraiser is not to be missed.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater will be holding auditions for the musical “Annie, Junior!” Auditions for this production, ages 5-15, will be held at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall on Thursday, January 12 from 4-7:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 14 from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Callbacks are Saturday, January 14th, after auditions. Sierra Music Society is offering a wonderful day of Opera, Food and Fun on Saturday, January 7th at 9:55 am. We are partnering with Century Riverside 12 and Silver Peak Restaurant and Brewery in Downtown Reno to present “Opera and Lunch”; a Saturday of opera and friendly, social enjoyment.

In just two short weeks it will be Christmas Eve. Treat the kids to some quality time with Family Day at A to Zen or at the final performance of ‘Elf Jr. – The Musical.’ Let the Carson City Symphony get you in the spirit of the season at the 33rd Annual Holiday Treat Concert in the Community Center. Brace yourself, Carson City. We could be in for some wet and windy weather this weekend. The more adventurous of you will be participating in the Be Bold, Run in the Cold ‘Run with Rudolph’ 5/10K near Western Nevada College. If you’d rather be indoors, the Carson Mall is hosting a Holiday Craft Fair, and at noon will celebrate the grand opening of Ogres-Holm Pottery. Celebrate a Country Christmas with Mary Kaye and the Kaye Sisters in Genoa or get your Celtic fix at the Brewery Art Center with a performance by County Clarke. Sassafras will show you a good time tonight: Whatitdo hits the stage at 8 p.m. Local favorite, Antsy McClain, brings a whole trailer park full of fun to his Christmas show at the Brewery Arts Center.

I hope you got your fill of naps last weekend because this weekend is chock full of fun to be had for all. You can Wine Walk until you Holiday Crawl downtown. Take your pick of craft shows in town. Kids won’t want to miss the Santa Train at the State Railroad Museum or one of the two performances of ‘The Peanutcracker’ at the Community Center. Whether you’d like to spend the days indoors or out, there is something for all ages in the Carson City area this weekend.
