Casinos in the Carson City area had their gaming revenue increase by 2.77 percent in August compared to the same time in 2017, according to figures released Thursday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Carson Valley Medical Center, located at 1107 Highway 395 N in Gardnerville, recently added Holter monitoring services to its EKG department.

The test, which must be ordered by a physician, monitors the patient’s heart rhythm for 24 to 48 hours. The Holter monitor is a small device -- about the size of a pager-- with three electrodes that record the patient’s heart rhythm.

The technicians at CVMC will schedule the patient to come in and have the Holter monitor applied. The monitor is then worn continuously for the period of time indicated by the physician.

The first concert in CVAC’s 2018-2019 Concert Series will feature music from the Sextones on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Charter Communications has confirmed a widespread internet outage that began at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Carson City area.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Don’t worry, you’ve still got four months for your holiday shopping, but Santa needs to hire a few helpers. The annual Polar Express on the V & T is getting ready to steam up and they are auditioning for elves etc. to lend a hand. The Nevada Arts Council has a new exhibit featuring Basque artwork; attend this evening’s artist reception to learn more about these unusual carvings. The ESL at Home program works quietly behind the scenes to bring better English language skills to non-native speakers.

Ground was broken Thursday, August 23 in a ceremony hosted by Welcome All Veterans Everywhere Inc,. also known as WAVE, for a monument honoring the service and sacrifice of living and deceased veterans in Douglas County. It will stand in front of the old courthouse on Eighth St. in Minden.

MINDEN — An Alturas, Calif., man is in custody following a chase involving a motorhome late Sunday night that began in South Lake Tahoe then eastbound Highway 50 on Spooner and ended with a crash into a building on Highway 395 in Gardnerville.
