Carson City and Silver City Become 'Arts and Culture Sister Cities'

Carson officials to accept proclamation from Silver City on Nov. 13

SILVER CITY, Nev. — Carson City’s recognition of the importance of arts and culture to a thriving community is very much in line with that of nearby Silver City. The Comstock town is known as an "Arts and Cultural Resources Production Center" due to the work residents have contributed in the fields of arts and cultural resources.

Art doll maker Christine Shively-Benjamin of Carson City will be among more than 30 artists from Northern Nevada featured at the 24th annual Artisan Show and Sale Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2-3, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Reno. Admission is free and at least 20 pieces of original art will be given away.

Erik Holland has worked as an artist his entire adult life. He started painting murals in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1990's. He then moved to Reno, Nevada, achieving his dream of living in the high desert. He has had a one man show in Reno every year since 2001.

Silver City hosts a free day of fun and music in the park to wrap up summer

Silver City is wrapping up summer in style with a day of fun in the park on Saturday, Sept. 1. A rummage sale to benefit Silver City Arts will begin at 9 a.m. and an afternoon and evening of live music will run 3 to 8 p.m. Starting at 2:30 beer, wine and soda will be for sale to benefit the Silver City School House and future music events.

Tahoe South extends summer with festivals, live music and lakefront laser show

According to the calendar, summer is coming to a close but South Lake Tahoe is refusing to acknowledge it. Tahoe South will host a magnitude of events extending the season from Labor Day into October with entertainment, culinary festivals, music, outdoor recreation, competitions and a lakefront laser show.

You’ll find the Elks Club honoring our flag at 3 p.m. The public are invited to both events.
