MINDEN — Partnership Douglas County is teaming up with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to offer a Prescription Drug Round-Up event on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden.

The woman who died in Lake Tahoe on Friday in an apparent drowning has been positively identified as a 30-year-old El Paso, Texas resident.

Clean Up the Lake, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has removed 8,183 pounds of trash from Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe.

Beginning in July 2020, the Clean Up The Lake dive teams completed a circumnavigated SCUBA clean up of Donner Lake, covering every inch of the 8 mile shoreline at depths of 0-25 feet removing all the smaller trash they could find that resulted in 5,151.5 pounds of trash removed from Donner Lake compared to 3,032 pounds of trash removed from the depths of Lake Tahoe.

RENO — In time for the holidays, Alaska Airlines will add new service between Reno-Tahoe International and Palm Springs and Los Angeles beginning Dec. 17.

National Forest trails, trailheads, beaches and other day-use areas in the Lake Tahoe Basin have now reopened for day-use only as of Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. Camping and overnight stays will not be permitted, and campgrounds will remain closed. Resorts will reopen for day-use only. Emergency Fire Restrictions will remain in effect through Nov. 30.
