Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. You can visit the North Pole safely as part of a drive-thru Santa's Village experience at V&T Railway in Carson City, beginning Friday into the weekend. A living nativity scene will be featured at First United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday. Combined with train rides in Virginia City, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. The Levitt AMP concerts are over but Wheeled Food Wednesdays are still rolling through each week to the Brewery Art Center to bring great food to the Carson City community. Wheeled Food Wednesday takes place on the BAC campus parking lot, 511 West King Street from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including the Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival, a bluegrass festival at Bowers Mansion, Celtic favorites at the BAC, tours at the Nevada State Museum, train rides, standup comedy at the Carson Nugget, a block party at Silver Oak Golf Course, a Boy Scouts car show at Fuji Park, "'Kutz for Kids' and more.

The 34th annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival is back this weekend from Aug. 16-18 beginning with the Rattlesnake Mountain Boys kicking things off at the Davis Creek Amphitheater at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Bluegrass bands both national and local will convene at the historic mansion along with kids activities, food trucks, games, and more!

The Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series presented by The Change Companies began with a full house last week and the party will continue this Saturday, June 29 at the Brewery Arts Center with reggae sensation Jordan T. So grab your family, friends and neighbors and get ready to experience the power of free, live music to bring our community together.

Wheeled Food Wednesday is back! The BAC will be hosting food trucks every Wednesday this summer, starting June 19th and going until September 19th! The trucks will start serving at 5:30pm and go until 8:00pm. There will be a wide variety of food trucks, so everyone will be able to find something they love. There will be kid’s activities—including a bounce house—and performances from different musicians throughout the year.

We are running out of summer weekends. I know that’s hard to believe right now, but hoodies and everything pumpkin is just beyond the horizon. Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. Car lovers have two shows to choose from today: spectators will be able to enjoy both, but you’ll have to pick one if you want to enter your ride. Keep reading for more summertime fun.

I’m not even going to speculate on the air quality, but please use your best judgement when choosing your activities and there may be some cancellations that I am not aware of. The afternoon ice cream social at the historic Foreman-Roberts House is a perfect family-friendly treat before heading to the Brewery Arts Center for tonight’s free concert. Yeah, it’s hot out there, but it’s the area happenings that are sizzling. The Carson City Fair at Fuji Park offers a plethora of entertainment for all ages including tractor pulls, a carnival, and farm animals. Under the shade of the Mills Park cottonwoods, you’ll have all day to peruse the varied vehicles in the annual Run Whatcha Brung Car Show. The sun will come out tomorrow, but it’s the stars that are coming out tonight for the free Levitt Amp Concert at the Brewery Arts Center.

On Friday, Aileen Quinn, "Hollywood's Original Annie" will be appearing at the screening of the 1982 classic "Annie," and on Saturday she will perform a free show at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City with her Rockabilly band Aileen Quinn and the Leapin' Lizards in a free, family-friendly outdoor concert.

Brazilian band SambaDá made its return to the Levitt AMP Summer Concert Series at the Brewery Arts Center in downtown Carson City Saturday night, bringing with it a musical blend of heat from the Americas.

I have long found it impossible to decide which Carson City event is my favorite: forever waffling between Nevada Day and the Taste of Downtown. Seeing as the annual parade is still months away, I’m going to side with ‘The Taste’ purely for its timeliness. With over forty local eateries participating, multiple raffles at downtown shops, and seven bands rocking every corner of the event, it’s practically impossible to have a bad time. This might be the biggest happening in town, but it’s by no means the only good time: read on for all this weekend’s options.

The Carson City Airport is celebrating 90 years at this year’s open house and fly-in. One of the summer’s best events with balloon rides, cool old planes, and much more: you won’t want to miss it. Beat the heat at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada; all admission fees have been waived today thanks to Carson City Toyota. Summer concerts at the Brewery Arts Center begin tonight with the Original Wailers.

Carson City again welcomes the Fathers’ Day PowWow to the Stewart Indian School Campus for a weekend of dancing, vendors and crafts, and community. Now, when I say bicycle invasion, I’m not exaggerating. The Carson City Off-Road hosted by Epic Rides brings mountain bike enthusiasts from all over to compete in our hills. You’ll find downtown road-closures to make way for the race routes, a bike expo, beer garden, and a music festival on Saturday. Head up to Western Nevada College to welcome the Journey of Hope Bike Tour.
