With political flame throwing at an all-time high, there has indeed been something missing from the Carson City air waves lately.

Sure, civility doesn't make the headlines these days, but what happens when two people can disagree, throw in some hilarious zingers at themselves and each other and still remain long-standing friends when the studio lights go dim? 

Welcome to Capital CrossFire 2.0., a program that will return to the Carson City airwaves after a 10-year hiatus.

Carson City District Attorney Neil A. Rombardo said Wednesday he will assemble a team of prosecutors to analyze the evidence and reports to determine whether the death penalty is appropriate in the alleged beating death of William McCune.

Leadership at the state's highest court will change Jan. 5 when Chief Justice Michael A. Cherry ends his term and Justice Kristina Pickering begins the administrative role of Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court.

Pickering will represent Nevada’s courts at the 2013 Nevada Legislature and will give the State of the Judiciary address to lawmakers early in the session. She will serve as Chief Justice until January 2014.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect in two shots fired that happened early Tuesday morning at the home of a Carson City Justice of the Peace John Tatro. No one was injured. The incident happened at around 4:30 a.m. Security measures have been beefed up at the Carson City Municipal Court.

CARSON CITY – Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto announced today that Aurora Volero-Alvarez, 61, of Las Vegas, has been sentenced in a Medicaid fraud case involving the false reporting of personal care services.

Final results are in for two Carson City Supervisor election seats that will result in November runoffs.
In the Carson City Supervisor Ward 2 race Brad Bonkowski and Dennis Johnson will face off and in Ward 4, incumbent Molly Walt will take on Jim Shirk for the seat.

Early voting and absentee votes for Carson City are in:
In the Supervisor Ward 2 Race, Brad Bonkowski is ahead 33.14 percent, followed by Dennis E. Johnson at 27.21 percent, followed by Stacie Wilkie McCullough, 23.41 percent, and Maurice White, 16.24 percent.

Carson City Supervisors Ward 4 Race has incumbent Molly Walt garnering 39.07 percent of the vote; Jim Shirk, 37.02; Amy Clemens, 23.91 percent.

The other races for Justice of the Peace (John Tatro); Mayor (Bob Crowell); School Trustee District 5 (Steven Reynolds) were uncontested.

The caseload at the East Fork Township in Douglas County does not require an additional judge at this time, Justice of the Peace Tom Perkins has decided.
The announcement was made public in a news release sent Monday.
State law requires that an additional judge be added to the township when it reaches 34,000 in population. According to Nevada's demographer, the population of East Fork Township is 39,907. In a letter written to the Legislative Counsel Bureau, Judge Perkins said:

Tom Armstrong has filed paperwork to run for Carson City Justice of the Peace Department 1. Armstrong currently holds this seat after being appointed by the Carson City Board of Supervisors last year.

Thirteen applications for the position of Carson City Justice of the Peace were submitted to the city by the Feb. 11 deadline.

Applications for the position of Carson City Justice of the Peace / Municipal Court Judge were sought by the Board of Supervisors. The position is to fill the vacancy created by retiring judge Robey Willis whose last day is March 12.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will be considering the purchase of a new 911 telephone system at their next scheduled meeting on Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center.

Also on the agenda will be appointing a replacement for retiring Justice of the Peace Robey Willis, and filling an empty spot on the planning commission.
