University of Nevada, Reno closes for 30 days, online classes to begin soon

University of Nevada, Reno has implemented plans, having closed for the next 30 days due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Nevada governor's procedures for all schools, state colleges and non-essential employees and school operations.

Donate blood, get a Wolf Pack t-shirt and beat UNLV: Drive at UNR, Reno and Carson City

The Wolf Pack community can help the University of Nevada, Reno transform lives by donating blood this Thanksgiving season. The blood drive, brought to campus by the Associated Students of the University of Nevada and Vitalant (formerly United Blood Services), is scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 27. There are four locations, all taking blood on this day; no appointments necessary.

University of Nevada graduates largest class to date

The University of Nevada, Reno through the weekend will be conferring 3,201 degrees, the most degrees ever distributed in one semester.

Due to inclement weather, all ceremonies were moved to the Lawlor Events Center instead of the University’s quad.

UNR to host cybersecurity conference; industry, academia leaders aim to tackle challenges

RENO — Local and regional industries will come together as part of the University of Nevada, Reno’s inaugural cybersecurity conference from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 2 in the Joe Crowley Student Union. With winter approaching, Western Nevada College’s Veterans Resource Center is participating in a donation drive of mostly clothing items for homeless veterans. Donations can be made at the Veterans Resource Center during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 10.

Mile High Jazz Band Presents 'Just Sayin' Big Band Jazz and Poetry September 12 in Carson City

The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Jakki Ford will be joined by several poets and readers on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, 7:30-9:30 p.m., for an evening of big-band music and poetry on the theme "Just Sayin’."

Each poem will be followed by a related big-band tune. The event will be at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City, outdoors in the adjacent courtyard, weather permitting. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under.

This year, the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame will welcome Gailmarie Pahmeier, Reno’s first poet laureate, and Willy Vlautin, song writer and author of four highly-recognized novels.
